I've been thinking about getting it too. What deters me is knowing that there is a newer MH game in Japan. Yes, it probably will come out ages later, but it still doesn't feel right.

Yes it's worth it. It has gone on sale a bunch too so keep your eyes out for that and it's even more worth it.

The game has hours and hours of gameplay, an active community, and it is a great entry title into the franchise as it better explains and implements a lot of the series complexities. I recommend watching some youtube tutorial videos as well. Also, miiverse is a great resource.

You'll want more at that point, anyway, if you end up liking it. MHX introduces some complex additions to combat, so it might be a good idea to master the basics before you get to that point.

It's the best 3DS game of 2015.

Hell yes. I've spent about 480 hours on it. One of the best 3DS games ever.

Despite spending over a 1000 hours playing it (Haven't touched it in nearly 4 months though), can't say I enjoyed it more than Tri despite the amount of content it has over Tri. Apex/Frenzy, even though I can take those monsters on without too much problems, pretty much kills the enjoyment of fighting monsters or wanting to grind for material/relics at the end of the game. Only reason I racked up so many hours was RNGesus wasn't kind to me....=(

That and fighting and grinding for parts agains late game monsters on your own takes FOREVER....

If you liked the demo then you'll love the game and MH4U is insanely generous with the amount of content it has. I'm 300 hours in and nowhere near beating it. The only other game I can think of that comes close to offering as much content is Borderlands.
