IGN gives Kingdom Hearts 3D an 8.5

Despite its problems, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance is an enjoyable experience with an engaging story and incredible characterization. Although the platforming is far from fluid and the story can feel convoluted at times, when KH3D soars, it soars high - capturing that KH magic that has propelled the series to great success for a decade now. Dream Drop Distance captures the quality of the console releases, but in bite-sized chunks fit for a portable, and successfully whisks players away to the world of Disney films like Hunchback of Notre Dame, Pinocchio, Tron: Legacy and more. Overall it?s a great new entry in the series, one befitting Sora and Riku?s return. With the excellent additions of Flowmotion combat and the Drop system, this may be the best portable entry in the series to date.

I love RPG's but I've always put this off as Disney/Final Fantasy together sounds damn strange to me. I might have to finally take the plunge with this and give the series a go though, looks quite fun.

Never been a fan of the Kingdom Hearts series. I'll pass.

Eh, I've been keeping an eye on the series for a while now, but KH hasn't been any good since KH2 and even that one wasn't all that great. I want to like this series, but the story's just getting a bit too strange for me. Too many spinoffs is what it is. They just need to get back to the main story and do KH3 already.

Hmm... the dream drop mechanic sounds so awful I'm considering passing, or at least getting it at a cheaper price. But who am I kidding, I'll probably get it eventually.

Chain of Memories introduced Namine and many members of Organization XIII.

358/2 Days focuses on the life of Roxas and Organization XIII and fills some important plot holes.

Birth By Sleep tells the origin of Xehanort as well as how Sora and Riku came to wield the keyblade in the first place.

coded doesn't give much to the story besides filling plot holes and stuff.

Dream Drop Distance sets right after KH2 and Sora and Riku are training to become Keyblade masters (mentioned at the beginning of the game; I won't say anything else about the story).

The problem with KH is how the story is organized and the platform jumping, especially since every game is important to the story. According to Square Enix, KH3 will come after Dream Drop Distance.
