I would have to say that about the only that that game me trouble was melty molten, daredevil comet, long level, with only 1 life, that was tough. fun and absolutley beautiful, anyone who says that smg is not for hardcore people havent collected 242 stars and died 20 times to get one.
meh, i didnt think it was that tough, nor did i think melty molten daredevil was that tough. The hardest ones for me were bouldergeist normal (i got lucky on daredevil) and dreadnought's purple coins. THAT was a tough level.
All you have to do in order to beat it, is go along in a back and forth pattern, kind of like when you mow the lawn. Go all the way to the end in a straight line, then move over one space, turn around, and go back. Repeat as necessary.
There are 150 coins on that level, and you only need 100.
The best tip I can give you is to enlist the aid of a friend. If you've got someone co-oping with you they can hold the green squares and stop them from shrinking which is invaluable.
the technique I used was jumping on the coin, and right before landing on the panel, spin and direct myself to another panel without a coin on it. You conserve panels so that you can make it back to the star at the beginning of the level. You could also long jump then spin afterwards and grab as many coins as possible during the jump. Conservation of panels was my approach to it. and be sure to get those groups of five coins floating in the air
I love that level. It took me like 15 tries (probably more) to beat it. I recomend starting off my going to the right while touching as fews sections as possible, and long jump the sections on the bottom until you get to the bottom right, then go to the top right, and work your way back and forth accross the map unti you get back to the begining
Because that person was obviously sadistic. Its the only star I don't have. Even the so-called Trial Galaxies were a piece of cake.TheLordMagnus

The Ray surfing thing in the Trial Galaxies was also a nightmare for me but I have all 120 *s you just have to keep on doing it until you get the job done.
Weirdly enough I got that Star on my first try. The most difficult star for me was the Battlerock Purple Coins. I never understood why since the Dreadnaught Purple Coins challenge was very similar and to some a lot harder than the Battlerock Galaxy Purple Coins. I was so happy when I finally beat it.
The important thing about that level is to make a path and try the same path each time. Once you've did that it will still be hard but do-able if you won all the other stars.
Battle Rock Purple Coins were much harder in my opinion :P
Luigi's Purple Coins was the most annoying level for me too - followed by Bouldergeist on normal (by the time I got to daredevil, I was good enough so that it wasn't insanely difficult).
The way I beat Luigi's Purple Coins was by going around in a circle, starting by going left and then dying about 100 times.
Melty Molten on daredevil wasn't that bad for me. Not to the point of wanting to pull my hair out, anyway.
It's not hard, what makes it hard is that most games today are a joke when it comes to difficulty, and people tend to freak when they see even a minimum challenge...
