imho everyone should try an animal crossing game. very different from the norm and quite a kewl game. however i wouldnt buy every animal crossing game. unfortunately ninty just dont do enough between iterations (adding a bit of online to the same game is not enough..ive seen PC patches do the same for free). so if u have 1 already then i wouldnt recommend investing in another. i bought the DS version...spent loads of time at it.....enjoyed it quite a bit. i have absolutely no interest in the wii version and i wont by another version at all untill they really start building on the consept and adding many more things to do and find (for a start). but i do recommend that everyone try 1 animal crossing game.
I found harvest moon extremely boring and pointless and alot of people say that animal crossing is like hm so im assuming that i wont like it. Ive also read reviews from gamespot and from members and their description sounds like the type of game i wouldnt enjoy.

I had fun with the Gamecube and DS ones, but I've pretty much lost the desire to buy the games anymore since I never played them enough and there is really no point to them at all. The main reason I got the DS one is because it looked amazing for being on a handheld, and reminded me of the original. The truth is, though, these games are never going to improve or get better - they will always have the same graphics and same childish atmosphere and objects that you really can't interact much with. "Yay, check out my room, I just redecorated! ...Too bad I can't actually lift weighs to make my character build muscles, or cook stuff to eat to stay alive on my brand new stove. It's...almost as good as a model home!"

Research can only take you so far.Actually playing the game is when a person can make their judgement about the game.Researching won't automatically tell you if you're going to like it or not,or if you're going to have a different opinion over the quality of the game.

Okay jaysonguy, but every one of your comments on this forum has you acting superior to everyone else, and usually coming off as a bit of a jerk. Just because you like animal crossing doesn't mean everyone else will. I don't, and I don't need to play the game to know that - I played the first two which are the same exact thing.
I always had a hankering to try an Animal Crossing game. So when City Folk came out I decided to take the plunge. Unfortunately I ended up regretting it. I didn't enjoy the game at all. The character voices are annoying, the characters themselves are childlike in design, and I just found it altogether boring. I guess I'm just too old for a game like this. I'm sure the kiddies love it, though.
I never got too into it, I would usually just fire the game up, most of my time with the game was just bell harvesting. I never really got into the other parts of the game like designing, contests, wi-fi, etc.
It tends to get mad boring though, and I stop playing for like, five months. And then something triggers a memory and I'm like, "OSHIANIMALCROSSING!!" And I start playing again. D:

On smaller titles you have a point. Something like MLB Power Pros or Octomania doesn't get much pub
Something like Animal Crossing on the other hand is filled with more then you could ever want to know.
Not only do you get articles and reviews and reviews from "professionals" and regular players but then you have sites like YouTube that carry hours of footage. Right now there's over three thousand pieces of video that feature Animal Crossing on the Wii.

I'm sure the kiddies love it, though. You can change the voice that the animals have by using the telephone beside your bed in the attic. Just call up and change them to silent or to Bebese. You can also do it at the start of a play session with Rover. If you're interested in games like this (and it seems you are, from your interest in PS Home and Fable II and your experimentation with AC) I really recommend trying out The Sims 2 if you haven't already. Only the computer version, mind you. It has far more mature themes to it, and has more of the realism to the characters that you get in PSHome, but it actually has things to do with objects and other people.

Do you always know what you'll like without trying it? You shouldn't assume that someone who dislikes something went in blind. You are also assuming that the people who've said that they dislike the game have played it. ;)

Wrong! People can do "research" and still not know about a game! Sometimes a person has to play a game to see if he likes it! You just like to see your opinions online, and you like to argue. Please, save us your drivel! A person can rent a game instead of buying it if they can't decide. If a person buys a game based on fan-hype, it's their own fault for not researching it first.
I love animal crossing. I'm not the sort of person who you would think to be atracted to that sort of thing, but it's a really good game. My only beef with it is that it pretty much is a one game series. Each new installment offers only small tweaks on the overall experience, I really hope Nintendo takes the next installment in a diffrent direction.
