How many accidents have you caused by plugging a GC controller into the Wii?

I swear, every time a controller is plugged in, something bad happens.

Some notable accidents that happened with my Wii:

1: My cousins were over, one of them walked in the room with a cup of soda, trips over the cord, drink and Wii both go flying, everything gets covered in a sticky mess.

2: Today my brother walks in, trips over the cord (RIGHT after I warned him), Wii goes flying, and the cover for the GC controller sockets breaks off.

Nintendo really needs to redesign that thing...

Oh yeah, there's always that. I don't really like the bulkiness of it, though. Plus who needs one more thing that takes batteries D;

Haha that'd be a fix. :P

Yeah, but it can still fall on the floor (unless it's already on the floor to begin with, in which case someone might step on it. Dx) I wish it was as sturdy as the Gamecube.

I've had instances like that happen to me a few times (a couple of them being caused by me -- unintentionally, of course). Which is why I now almost never use GameCube controllers on the Wii these days. Saves the system from receiving harm.

Yup, you most definitely can. The Gamecube has some of the shortest controller cables, so way back when, I got some for my Gamecube and you can click here for an example. I would just shop around to the best price.

Anytime and yeah, I was always unplugging my controllers and sometimes pulling the system off the table by accident, so that's why I got mine but yeah they are cheap now a days because they are outdated but they are pretty much only sold online now, hope that helps you out.

I think the simple solution to that would be to not have your cube controllers on the floor where people can trip on them. Put the cube controller on top of the Wii or next to it when not in use and have the cord hang behind or whichever direction is away from where people walk. If they somehow still manged to trip on it, get them a new pair of legs and coordination tutor.

Haha, I think I'll have to go with the latter. Most of the time the cord is tripped on is when someone is actually playing the game, so it's lifted off the floor and acts as a tripwire. :P

Sometimes when I'm sitting pretty far away form the TV, I try to pull the controller a little closer, but of course the cord is so short that it ends up pulling the entire console.

0.

I either have the following solutions:

When not playing, I keep the GCN controller and cord near the Wii and disconnected.

When playing, I lock my door.

I too have never had any accidents with a GCN controller plugged into the Wii. Whenever possible, I prefer to play games with the GCN controller rather than the Wiimote. I don't have any friends that can cause accidents either.....

I'm building a custom joystick that will use the gamecube controller ports for Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom and Smash Bros. I have had the console for almost two years and have yet to connect a controller to the ports, but I am going to use an exceptionally long wire to avoid any such issues.

FYI, GameCube extension cords can be had for less than $4 per pair on ebay right now, shipping included.

Gamecube port covers.. off on day 1, never went back on. People who constantly trip or worry about tripping over their cords... did you guys START gaming when the Wii came out? Seriously o_o Only time I ever had an accident was my 4 year old niece walking away with the control.

That would be impossible; the Wii is not powerful enough to support GameCube emulation, so it literally becomes a GameCube when a GameCube game is inserted. As such, the limitation that you must use GameCube controllers and memory cards is due to the fact that the GameCube required those controllers and memory cards.
