I really don't like this name, its actually hard to say and understand. If you say "Wii-U" to someone, I'm certain they will give you a "WTF" face and ask you to repeat what you said. That's not a sign of a good product name.
"Whew"? It's a pretty awful name. Though the thing got me fairly fascinated today, the more I thought about it the more I had to wonder ... really? Is this what the world needs?

I see what they were trying to do. This is really the Wii 2, two rhymes with U (you), and the Wii (we) was about everyone. I can't wait for the Nintendo Them. Its for the odd balls in your family. Ya, you know, those guys, them over there... :lol:
Buy I totally agree, the name doesn't roll off the tongue well and is hard to understand when talking with another person. I personally liked Nintendo Stream a LOT better. It was straight and to the point of what the console does. They could have even used a synonym of the word stream... like torrent. The Nintendo Torrent, can you imagine what the google searches would pick up when searching that? :lol: Ok, maybe that's too far, but at least the homebrew community would be like: "That's the best name evvvvvver!". :P
I'm a bit disappointed by the name because it's hard to pronounce in my language and I can see many people just calling it Wii 2 anyway. :) I had hoped they would have actually named it Revolution this time, a cool sounding and pronounceable name. :P
Every time I see Wii U, I think of the sound that sirens make...wee-ooo wee-ooo. I'm not sure if that will ever go away...gamefan606
Dang now I have that stuck in my head! Anywho, I say it more like one word. I tend to talk quickly so the pause just sounds to drawn out to me. My boyfriend's stepmom figured they would call it the "Us."
