Depends on the size of the TV. If your comparing two of the same size TV's only one HD and one not, then they are about the same. If you have a big HDTV it will probably stretch the image and it will look... well not that great. but that is why you buy component cables if your in that situation.
IT looks alright, but of course anyone who owns a PS2 and an HDTV knows that non-HD content doesn't look so hot on an HDTV when it comes to games. You see every flaw, glitch and jaggie in the game.
