It's really odd. Every place is listing it as "sold out". Except for ebay, where one seller has it listed for $99. pdp.com doesn't have it. Nerf.com doesn't have it (actually never did for some reason---"nerf" was probably merely licensed by PDP <-- guessing). The new "Triple Armor" is for DS sized only (not XL). There *IS* a triple armor for the 3DS XL size, but it won't work with the DSi XL because the camera slot is in the wrong place. Very frustrating. There is a clear hard-plastic one I think which IMO is a bad idea for 6 y.o.'s dropping things. Any ideas?

Maybe you have tiny little 4 year old girl hands but anyone who can wear a glove in regular sizes knows the Nerf Armor makes the DS/DSi/3DS more enjoyable to play for long periods plus protects better than any other covering.
I wish the 3DS XL Nerf cover had space for extra games. Every other case in existence has a place to store more games. My Nerf Vita case has space for two extra games, why not the XL?

Not that simple. The Triple Armor is relatively new---wasn't around when I bought the first nerf armor, and has come out for the DS (non-XL) line AND the 3DS line. BTW, the assessment that Nerf Armor is somehow terrible is way off. It's been a spectacular success in saving the things from many drops.
