I remember the carts were only a little bigger that gameboy carts when the ds first came out. Have they gotten any bigger in size?

I don't think so, but the DSi presented a significant boost in the internal system memory. So that has increased with the lattest version of the handheld, even if the cartridge memory size has not.

Most 'big' DS cards are 128 MB in size (Elite Beat Agents, The Rub Rabbits!, etc) A select few games come in 256 MB cards, two I believe; ASH (Japanese RPG, set to come overseas at some point as far as I know), and World Destruction / Sands of Destruction, also coming soon.

I wonder, how big were GBA games? Anyone know?

Physically, the cart size remains the same, but I believe devs are more comfortable with using up more space. 32MB was a norm, with 64MB being rare when it first came out. Now 64 is the norm, 128 is becoming uncommon, and 256 is rare. sergioalb64 there's also that Star Wars game.. I think that was the first 256 cart even though the game was rated mediocre.
