The title pretty much says it all.

Should I go ahead and buy a Wii U or wait for Nintendo's new console?

Hard to say at this point, but I don't think the new system will have backwards compatibility since that would require them to still use the Gamepad, so if you have a good list of games you want for the Wii U then go for it.

@link82: I would go ahead and buy but my advice is to buy used from Nintendo store since can get for $200, with Nintendo Land, or can get Super Mario 3D World for $225, or Zelda Wind Waker Wii U Bundle for $235, only reason i say buy used and not brand new is cause buying from Nintendo is about the same as buying new, and it will most likely get a price cut before Christmas. The system is still worth $299 or whatever the asking price for bundle is, but that used price is awesome.

Once the price cut happens we will have a better picture of the future. I think that if price cut goes to $250 then NX will come in 2017, if price cut goes to $199, then NX is coming Holidays 2016.

The Wii U has a great library already. It will take a year or so after launch for the NX to have many games worth playing. The best deal is probably getting a Wii U after the NX launches.

if wiiU gets a price drop this christmas....id pick it up...there plenty to play that wont be on NX.

we dont even know if NX will function as a console...

if there is no wiiU price drop this year...then maybe wait for next e3 and see what the NX is.

@link82: Get a Wii U for now, and think about getting an NX when it is time. The Wii U is the console to get if you want to play great Nintendo titles like Mario Kart 8, New Super Mario Bros. Wii U, Super Smash Bros. Wii U, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Pikmin 3, Splatoon, The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker HD, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. Later, games like Yoshi's Woolly World, Star Fox Zero, and Xenoblade Chronicles X will become available. You don't have to pay the extra money for the other consoles to play some other great titles like: Need for Speed Most Wanted; Rayman Legends; Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Disney Infinity, Skylanders, or Mighty No. 9. Plus the Amiibo work with the Wii U.

Mario 3d world, zelda ww hd, pikmin 3, wonderful 101, bayonetta 2, captain toad, kirbys rainbow curse, yoshis wooly world, donkey kong tf, zombiU, nsmb u, mario kart, smash bros, lego city undercover, splatoon.

Considering that the NX is supposed to go into production in a few months, and we will likely hear more about it by early next year, I would just wait and see what that's about, unless you have nothing else to play right now.

Get the Wii U! It's craziness to disregard a Nintendo console. The few games that are there are quality titles. Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros and Splatoon are all I would need to put this console down as a classic. Don't associate a less-than-average console with poor games, its unfair on some of the best nintendo games ever released.

1 1/2 years is too soon? Whatever the "NX" is, wont be here until 2017.

@dotWithShoes: I think its coming out asap, I'm sure they had a plan B already set. And yes 1.5 years is worth the wait, I;m sure the NX will play U games.

That's cute you think Nintendo can stick with the Wii U that long

To be fair, we dont even know for sure what the nx is... If it is a console and they release it 2016, im sure they would at least include backwards compatibility

@mdk12345: I'm not 100% but there is no reason for them to wait with a failing system, its hurting them they want it gone asap. I think it is likely it will be out near the end of 2016.

Still too early to even think of NX, if you're willing to wait go for it. As for me, the Wii U was well worth it.

That's a very good point I hadn't considered. In that case, definitely get a Wii U. It's got enough good games at this point, with Xenoblade and Zelda still on the way.

Personally with the lack of games for the WiiU, and the silly handheld aspect I'd wait for the next console.
