ok i never used the GameCube portion of my wii before and i need to know if the GameCube games can save on my Wii/SD Card or do i have to buy a GameCube memory card for it?

Sorry dude no way around it. Maybe in the next year or so they will find a way around that error, or create a new system outdating the Game Cube for good.

They updated the Wii menu so that data could be seamlessly transferred from SD to internal memory when necessary. This isn't the same thing.
The Wii needs GCN memory cards and controllers when playing GCN games because it becomes a Gamecube. The basic Wii hardware is very similar to its predicessor. Just with a few improvements. Because of this it can run GCN games natively simply by underclocking the CPU. The limitation is that none of the improvements, including internal memory, can be used by the games since they were never designed for them.
