It's a nice idea. I wonder if they'll relaunch the GCN controller along side it, because not everyone has one.

Yeah, i have mixed reactions to this... I think it's great Nintendo is giving fans the option too. At the same time, using a wired controller, seems a bit dated. Not to mention, they already have a pro controller. To me, seems like they use promote that more.

I wonder if it is simply converting GC controllers into Classic Controller input or the operating system is recognizing a new controller allowing for rumble and pressure sensitive shoulder buttons?

I said this when the Wii came out, and when the Wii U came out - they need to take the gamecube controller and evolve it for the next console, as a standard controller. No more of this pro crap, (Wii U pro is pretty good though) the gamecube controller is the most ergonomic controller ever.

I'm completely indifferent about this. At least the hardcore Melee tournament players don't have to adapt.

Don't forget that PDP and Nintendo are making the fight pad based on the Gamecube controller. I wish they would release pics of it though. Any thoughts on the fight pad?

Sounds really good. However I don't think I'll bother since I've already got a Classic Controller, Classic Controller Pro, Wii U Pro Controller, and the Gamepad. Should be good enough.

@willtsherman: The thing is PDP GC like controller uses the Wiimote to function, it pretty much like using the CC pro since you hook it up into the Wiimote.

I'm really hoping Nintendo as well as third party/indie developer make the GC adaper/controller compatible with their games, whether It eShop/VC or actual Wii U games specifically the ones that support CC pro or Pro Controller 'pretty much want a jack of all trade controller, would save us money too'.

came here to say this. It would be a great addition to their E3 presentation and really get the train moving

I don't see why not. They need to go all out, really. If wiiu can play wii games, I don't see why it can't play GC titles--even physically. What if they release GC "collection" discs?

@Heirren: I agree with releasing physical collection pack disc 'due to GC disc being different from Wii/Wii U they won't work', that'd be really good for those who don't like digital atleast.

Wired into the GC adapter? I like Wii U Pro Controller, but if the adapter allows for rumble it will be the favored controller for any competitive game on the system.

Why? Because the wired controller has zero latency and competitive players don't risk the wireless transition.

Awesome, the MULTITAPS are back!

Remember when those seemed to be going out of fashion? Not anymore courtesy of the Wii U design. I'll pick one up though on sale, lol.

Awesome, I just bought another wavebird (have three now) hopefully it works with the adapter. I'm getting my girlfriend the white pro controller to use with Mario Kart (gamepad is pretty crappy to use for MK), wish this adapter was released sooner :/
