No there are little side quest places you can go to to fight someone but there's only one worth checking out cuz it helps u unlock Grandpa Gohan. The only times u can get dragonballs are during the story when you knock someone through a boulder or building or something like that I dunno why but its a highly addictive game to me and i love it.

Like the following people, don't like Gamespot discourage you, it was quite a great game.. maybe not superb, but great.. I say in the 8s area..
It is fun, but I dont know how to walk around during fights with the GCN controller.aaro_basic
just don't use the GCN controller, using the wii remote gets you into the game much more, it's a little awkward at first but once you get use to it you can't go back to GCN controller

there are a few times where you have to chase people and you find the dragon balls while fighting, when you destroy buildings, mountains, etc... you'll see the dragon balls on the ground

oh its like that i still think sagas was the best dbz game ever
The game would be pretty mediocre if it werent for the Wiimote. It really did make this game better just because its so freaking crazy. I tried it with the gamecube controler and it was bleh. There are better games you could be buying
