Achievements give the player an extra incentive to play a game. Doing things that you normally wouldn't do in a game for a virtual reward.
I wish the Wii had achievements.
What do you think?

It would be nice but I'm fine without them.PlasmaBeam44That's because you have a 360 already and have achievements! :x

from the outside they are just gimmicks but they really do make games sometimes mroe fun and challenging, and add replay value.
their the reason i play my rpgs through more than once
No. I have a 360 and PS3 and I find Achievements/Trophies very stupid. It really ruins a game for me chasing them. Unless they start giving Microsoft points or something thats a whole different story, know what I sayin?...BattleAciD
No, I don't know what you're saying. How does extra stuff hurt at all?

l-o-l. Im saying there is no gain from it. And on Wii, who do you go to show your gamerscore to?

The same people you show your score to on 360 and such, forum tags and friends. After a game ends, it's game over, but if you liked the game a lot like many did for RE4 and such, isn't it nice to replay through a game and try for new objectives?

The Wii doesn't have the same online community like the 360 has, so you cant really show it off. But for tags, that can work... I guess.
So right now your trying to convince me to get some Achievements on my 360. Ok, I will. I will pop in GTA 4, and get some more Achievements that I dont already have(while going through the game. achievements end up popping up).
yes but there are huge problems with the acheivements system on the 360. Mainly it means you know when the games gonna end, since there is a log on your 360 to tell you how far into it is
on okami that would have beendisastrousto the plot twists, same with a lot of adventure games
also it can detract from a lot of the action in some games, because your striving to get a certain amount of headshots or the likes. It makes things that should be very intense battle sequences... slow, and slightly detached from the story.
This is just what I've found from my time with a 360, and there are a lot of games that really do benefit from the acheivements (PGR4 and guitar hero do) but they have their place, and could be dealt with better
if they were, then I'd love them

guitar hero says different... nearly as many wii's logged onto guitar heros online on wii than on 360

No, I just wish that the Wii would actually have good games to play.
Whoever says no, obviously hasn't experienced Xbox 360. Achivements can make or brake a game. With sports games, half the fun is trying to get the achivements. Look at NHL 08. They have AHL upset, and Elite league upset. Getting those can be a hard challenge. If Nintendo brought achivements (which they obviously won't cause they're Nintendo) it would be great.toonlinkk
Sometimes judging obviously makes you look like foolish. How can you tell that people who say "no" haven't experienced the 360?
I think an achevement system would be great and it would be even better if achievement points could be used to purchase Miis and extra things for other games like inside the wii shop channel there was place for achivement point purchases and u can get i dunno like items for wii games and DS games like the pokemon mystery gift kinda thingwebbut
I agree completely, it would be a lot more fun to get points for things like:
'Play Super Smash Bros. Brawl = 10 points'
or
'Complete 'Legend of Zelda:Twilight Princess = 100 points'
but hey, I'm not one to judge...

:| That's not true at all... I love achievements, but saying something like that is idiotic.
As of right now, no.
Developers and publishers need to know proper achievement design; incorporate guidelines for fun things to do (Nothing monotonous like kill 50,000 enemies.) and prevent farming (Basically either don't include multiplayer achievements or if the game is mainly multiplayer, well, I don't know.). Until a nice majority know that, I'm not going to change my answer.

Consider this, achievments are for those games that are so fun you want to play through them again or do more in them. If a developer was good enough to make a game that fun, don't you think they'd be good enough to make decent achievments? I mean if a game is a bad game, you won't care about getting the achievments in the first place...

Im saying when you go online, its just FC's or whatever. Other than MOH there isn't really user names. You cant really talk with friends, other than Wii numbers. Im sayin how can someone random view your gamerscore? Impossible.
