So guys, seeing how my WiiU is arriving on Friday, I thought I better ask this now. Do the original Wiimotes without the built in Motion+ work on WiiU? I have a few of these along with the Motion+ accessory attachments that I had with Wii, but I don't have any of the newer ones with it. Do the originals work on WiiU or does it require the newer ones?

They won't work unless you have a Wii motion + attachment.

They will work on games that don't require WM+. Some minigames in Nintendoland for example require WM+ and others don't.

I own two Wii U's.

Wiimotes and Wiimotes with Motion PLUS both work.

Especially since any Wii Mote you find in stores now has it built in.

actually I bought an orignal used Wiimote from gamestop on black friday. that's how I found out about some Nintendo Land games requiring the motion plus. It had a rubber casing and I assumed it was a motion plus. needless to say I exchanged it the next day
