No. But I use it for the SNES games.

Here's my pattern of controls for the VC games:

Wiimote: NES and Turbografx and Sega Genesis games
C lassic controller: SNES and Sega Genesis games
GameCube controller: N64 games

You can use the GameCube controller for all the controls.

When you purchase games from the VC in the top right corner is the game information. There are little pictures that show what type of controller will work with each game.

GameCube controller will work with all VC games, but it's worth noting that the button configuration can be frustrating when using it with SNES games. For example, Super Mario World uses the SNES controls exactly, meaning Y is run and B is jump. However, on the GameCube controller, Y and B are very far apart.

Basically what I'm saying is, if you're going to buy SNES games, get a classic controller.

Can't you use A to jump too?

A is the spin jump. Not a good idea for most levels.

No, you can use the GC controller for anything, or the WiiMote for NES Games.

The Gamecube controller works for all games and the Wii remote can be used for some.

You only really need the Classic controller if you play SNES games. The Wii controller can't do it and the Gamecube controller is horrible for SNES games.

I do find the classic controller to be less clunky than the GC controller, especially when playing N64 and Sega Genesis games.

Gamecube controllers work too, but if you don't have either a GC controller or a Classic controller, I would recommend buying a Classic controller instead.

Wiimote and gamecube controller are compatible with some games, but the classic controller is compatible with all games on the vc.

No you dont -- you can use a gamecube controller for many VC games and NES games you can use the Wiimote sideways.

However, I recommend getting the C lassic controller. Playing Donkey Kong Country with a GC controller doesnt work well, at all.
