Meh. Was hoping the 3DS DK was going to be a new game, not a port. Dunno why companies think I would buy the same game twice.

Controls would be automatically better since it's really unlikely they'll keep the crappy motion controls, and map them to a button as they should. Will probably look about on par, though the 3D has the potential to be great. Would rather have had a sequel, but I'll pick it up sometime.

Same,a sequel would be better.

Or a 3D game,for that matter.

I would have liked a remake or sequel of Donkey Kong 64 instead.

I love motion controls. I REALLY do. But DKCR is one of the few games that I remember that got KILLED by the controls. I skipped the game because of it, so I'm really happy for this unexpected port.

The controls...no waggle?.....:D

I dont know how I feel about this though.  If it is better I will buy it, but a direct port probably not.

The game was hardly "killed" by motion controls, you missed out. Anyway, I don't own the game, so I'll pick it up. Would rather see the sequel on the Wiii U.

Actually it kind of was considering it was already uncomfortable holding the wiimote horizontally. Still I was hoping for an entirely new DKC but eh it'll be great alongside the new Mario and Luigi.

The game is not for you it is for me. I did not get because other games were out and by the time I could get it they did not have it in stores. So this is for me.

You can still buy the game; it's cheaper too: Link.

After watching the 3D trailer on my 3DS, it looks decent for the system but there's a noticeable visual downgrade from the original. You can tell the poly count his dropped significantly.

The 3D looked like it was implemented well, though. It'll be nice to play this game without motion controls so I'm sure it'll be worth a purchase.

Not sure if i'll buy it or not. If it has additional levels and the option of playing as just Diddy Kong, I'll pick it up, if it's just the same game then probably not.

Donkey Kong is one of Nintendo's most popular IPs, there is no reason for them to have not made a new entry in the series for 3ds. Nintendo has been doing this for years. "Why release an original game when we can just re-release an old one with updated graphics and MAYBE a new level or two"? They need to realize that releasing old games is fine, but doesn't substitute for new ones.

Well, first of all, it was expected. All the DKC games returned in a handheld port, DKC1-3 came to GBA

Second, it surprisingly looks good in the Eshop trailer, looks VERY identical graphical terms to the Wii save for a few fizz and the Wii version having better polish.

and Third, WHY NOT, DKCR was one hell of a Good REAL old school hard 2.5D Platformer(Along with Rayman origins might i say) thats not a retro inide game, and the 3DS has the added bonus of no Waggle for those who didnt like it in the Wii version.

The 3D video looked gorgeous but I already spent a ridiculous amount of time with this game on the Wii. No need to repurchase it for the 3DS.

Although the 3D really does make old games fresh in a way... online co-op would be really cool too.

Should have made a new game. Hopefully it has new content at the least, also online co-op would be nice and even better if it was single card play.

We'll see. I am a pretty big DKC fan but it will be tough to justify the purchase if they don't change anything. Going by the trailer, the 3D effect was too "zoomed out" to have a strong impact.

People who are complaining about it being a port don't sound familiar with how Donkey Kong Country/Donkey Kong Land worked on the SNES/GB back in the day In those days, the Land games were basically remixed versions of their corresponding Country game, in which enemies and themes might be the same but some stages were very different with some stages being shared. Overall back in the 90s it was more than enough to classify the DK Land games as great games. I'd wager DK Country 3D will do the same. It will have the same enemies as the Wii version, similar animations, similar stage ideas, even some copy and pasted. But I'm also sure it will have a lot of remixed content that makes it fresh. Nintendo did say it is "reworked"

I'll buy it since I never played it on Wii, but I would much prefer a sequel (or even remake) to DK64.  Best DK game I've ever played, and one of my favorites on the N64.

Nah, from my experience good 2D platformers are almost always better designed than good 3D platformers. I feel the third dimension takes away from the precision of the level design.

P.S. I'm kind of excited about this game just because it won't have the waggle roll. That really put a damper on things.

Oh, and I just want Nintendo to profit from Donkey Kong Country Returns as much as possible. Then perhaps they'll make a sequel in the vein of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.

I kinda like the idea. I hated playing DKCR with the sideways Wii mote. So the 3DS will provide better control. 3D should be nice in short bursts.

I will accept the hit in graphics that will result from this 3DS port because it means I can play it with proper controls (without hacking my Wii, anyway).

There are people who own a Wii who haven't played it, and there are people who don't even own a Wii.  Your personal library does not equal everyone elses... a concept very hard to get through to most people. Ports and remakes can be great for gamers as it allows us to revisit older games and allow new generations to play past favourites (such as the Oracle games coming to eShop). I do have to say remakes and ports of recent games aren't always the best option, but they are allowing for a larger audience.

In the past they've re-done the music for DKC portables. It would sure be nice if they could get original composer David Wise to give the game a proper soundtrack. Wishful thinking? Totally.

Here's a pretty good comparison, what do you think?

Edti: Textures have taken an obvious hit but other than that it looks pretty identical.
