6 is kind of young for most DS games, right?
I guess if she can handle it, Nintendogs, Animal Crossing, new super mario bros, some of the other mario games, etc.
As Hydra said, Animal Crossing or Nintendogs.
Animal Crossing is basically where you live out a seperate life on the DS. Without having to go to school or work, you do what you want, when you want. There are also special events like Christmas, or Halloween, it is a great game for all ages.
Nintendogs is about raising your own virtual pet, it is much easier virtually raising a dog than actually having one. :P
I have a 6 year old here is my advice
First off.. Don't listen to all these other people telling you that the DS is too complicated for a 6 year old, my daughter has had one since she was 5. Plays it daily.
There really is no difference between boy games and girl games for the most part.
Here is a listing of games she likes the best:
1. Nintendogs (by far the most played, any one of the games will work try to get her favorite dog though)
2. Pokeman (Diamond or Pearl, my daughter never has watched the show beforehand, but now she has the game and loves it)
3 New Super Mario Brothers (Tough game but she likes the challange)
4. Super Princess Peach (Another hard one but she likes the girl stuff)
There are a lot of crappy games that are a complete waste of time and waste of money. No matter how much your daughter asks DONT GET THEM.
Sure can,
The bad games are usually made after movies, tv shows, or out there just to attract children's attention. When you get them there is nothing to do after about an hour of playing. I can't comment on imagine becasue I never bought any, I don't think I ever would but you never know.
Here is a list of games she had that she never played more than a couple of times.
1)Strawberry Shortcake
2) Pet Vet
3) Cars
4) Pet Horsez 2
IMHO you can never go wrong with games from Nintendo (mario, peach, yoshi island).
Just adding what thehipnotic said:
New mario bros is a great choice, its very popular among children (and even adults), its rare to see a child that dislike mario games after all.
If she likes mario bros she might like mario kart also.
Another good option is pokemon (diamond/pearl), those creatures are very charming to both children and adults alike. (I first played pokemon when i was seven years old), at the start she can probably take some time to get used to it, but after that she wil play it a lot.
Kirby is also another good choice, either kirby squeak squad or kirby super star ultra
I suggest you avoid:
Role playing games (rpg) theme, can be too complicated for a young girl
Strategy games, same as above
Shooting/war games, not good for young children, very low chance of they like it, some are even too violent
Games based on films (spider-man, revenge of the mummy) and tv shows are usually made with a lot of rush, so the game dont have good quality and maybe even bugs.
maybe mario party or theres carnival games. several mario games may actually be the best choice, but games that are puzzle based like pokemon trozei or any other puzzle game thats great with visuals. take a look at the shows she watches and see if there are any games based on those shows. Finally, theres the method where she chooses herself, but I guess it may too early for that. Hope it helps.batsy4life
What?! Party games stink unless you have freinds every time you play them, and even them the two you mentioned aren't all that great. As for games based off of tv shows, are you insane???
My boys are 5 and almost 7, and they love the DS! Don't forget to pick up a screen protector, the younger kids are really hard on the touch screen.
New Super Mario Bros.
Mario Party
Mario and Sonic at the Olympics
Monster House (movie games are usually bad but this one is actually fun)
Chocobo Tales (if she can read, it does have a some text that needs reading)
Mario Kart
Super Mario 64
if shes a hardcore gamer i recommend:
1.Dementium the ward
2.Cod4
3.MPH
4.GH: OT
5.Super MArio 64
well as u can see most are fps but good luck
DONT GET HER ANIMAL CROSSING. if u forget to save the game a retard comes up and says a bunch of stuff and tells u to do stuff.TheMagicThingLet me elaborate: If you shut the game off without saving, when you turn it back on an angry mole appears and starts harassing you. "He is known for being extremely annoying, going on and on about the importance of saving, and usually ends the conversation with a philosophical statement, like "Wash your hands after using the bathroom, ya little piggy!" While this is funny and charming, depending on how sensitive your child is, it could be received as harsh and demeaning.
I've found a few that my kids (2-5) enjoyed. Now that the eldest one's starting to read we'll move on but...
As with the other posts stay clear of the licensed titles in most cases. It's amazing how they can get a kids game so wrong sometimes. They make the game either too complicated or require too much reading for a kid young enough to be interested. By the time they're old enough to be able to read it/play it they're no longer interested in the subject matter. Fifi and the flower Tots for example.
Oops, Unintentional bump of an old thread. Sorry. This thread... is four years old. I will never understand how people even find threads this old.
nintendofreak_2
And people find it by googling. For example "ds games for six year old" :) I was here looking for that and thought I'd add my own to the list to help out anyone else who found it.
