There are many things that are good about the dsi.

1) Camera

2) Bigger screens

3) Thinner (i think)

4) Sd slots

Yeah, those a pretty good things people would be looking foward to. The GBA slot, i can live without, but the battery life is bad.

The NDSL has a battery life of about 19 hrs, the dsi, not so bad: 9 HOURS!!! im not sure if i can acomplish much in 9 hours. I thought the battery life would be like 12 or 13, but not 9. Whats the next ds gonna have, 5?

If you have any thoughts about this, plz post.

You do know that you can play the ds while it's plugged in?

Personally, I don't know when I would ever have nine free hours to sit and play video games, and I certainly don't know of any games that would take me nine hours to accomplish anything.

The battery life is the thing that shows us that the DSi is just a holdover until Nintendo actually works on their next handheld. In this day and age there is no excuse for the battery life to be so little. Unless of course this isn't the real handheld they've concentrating on which will be the case.

Acually at the lowest brightness setting the dslite lasts for 15 - 19 hours and the dsi lasts for 9 - 14 hours.

the dsi also has 5 different brightness settings compared to the dslite's 4 which means that at the highest brightness setting (brighter then the dslite) the dsi will last 3 - 4 hours, however if you put the dsi at the maximum brightness of the dslite the dsi will last for 4 - 6 hours compared with the dslite's 6 - 8 hours.

And of course these numbers depend on wifi usage, camera usage (which the dsi has 2 of , and thats a BIG battery hog),and a variety of other factors.

They've been concentrating on the software for it. You know, face-blending programs don't just write themselves!

But it's a portable gaming system... we shouldn't have to be near an outlet every time we feel like playing our DS. The DSi is a letdown and NOT an improvement over the current DS available.

Another flaw to the battery life, thank you for pointing that out.

Honestly it does bother me a bit, who wants to lose battery time, but I find myself lacking 9 hour periods where I'm nowhere near an outlet. For some people I'm sure it's an issue, but I should be ok :P

I never play my DS for more than 2 hours at a time so that won't be a problem. And if for some reason I decide to get the DSi and it runs out of battery life from playing too long, I could either play it while it's charging, let it charge and do something else, or just play on my DSL. It's really not that big of an issue.

Seriously? it doesnt really matter.

a new handheld comes out every 2 years, so set it to charge every night (I do with my cell). if your battery dies for good, just buy a new one. Its like 10 bucks. Going on a road trip? bring a car charger. Marathon? play while its charging.

Yeah because the DS has no moving parts. The PSP has a UMD drive that needs power to run, Six hour battery life is a blessing on the PSP. The DS can have a long battery life because its cartridge based.
