Anyone else here completely forget about Dragon Quest X? - Nintendo Fan Club

I did. I looked it up and can't remember if I even realized it had been released a year ago on Wii and was actually put out on WiiU 6 months ago. Sounds like it had decent reviews but I'm surprised we didn't hear more about it when it released... Unless we did and I just missed it... Anyone here actually play it? Any word on an actual U.S. release? I'm surprised we don't hear more about this game. It was a big deal when square announced it for a Nintendo console.

Yeah. I'm guessing it'd get more converage once/if it gets released outside of Japan.

Nope, I've been hoping for a localization for quite awhile. At the last E3 I half expected such an announcement. Maybe they don't think it will do well in America, but I think it would do at least decent sales. It looks like an epic MMORPG to me.

I have not fogrgotten about it but without a U.S. release date there is not much to get excited for.

I thought there was an offline component to it, like in PSO on the 'Cube, or Monster Hunter?

Theres a VERY limited offline component to it. Mainly a tutorial type thing from the looks of it.

The biggest blunder this gen was Nintendo and Square-Enix announcing that the Wii would get Dragon Quest X as an exclusive title, only for the game to end as a late, MMO shell of what it could have easily been if only Square-Enix just played it smart and worked on a true, traditional installment that would have grabbed everyone's attention. The one opportunity for a third party offering to make a major splash on a Nintendo console... totally wasted.

So yeah, I was forgetting about this game the moment S-E announced the direction the game was heading in, only to look back every now and then and think about what could have (and SHOULD have) been.

I haven't forgotten really, but I'm not holding my breath for a release. Even if it does release, I'm not going to buy it unless either it has no subscription fee or the game itself is free*.

*Obviously very unlikely.

If nothing is announced by TGS this year, I'm sticking a fork in a US release.

I'm still waiting on Dragon Quest VII for the 3DS... I would like to play this on the Wii U though.

I really hoped for see at E3 this year but that didn't happen and stopped caring about it.
