Lets take a look at the launch window line-up for Nintendo Switch coming up. Of course there are many other games coming, but i felt would be best to start small and focus on the closest releases.

Nice List... the real bummer for me, is that titles like Bomberman and 1-2 Switch are like 50$ games, when they probably should be 20$ digital games. I've heard good things with Snipperclips, but doesn't peak my interest. Mario Kart will be a must buy for anyone who doesn't own the Wii U version.

The most interesting game on the list is Arms. They've showed us enough to peak our interest, but think they need to further develop the game, in order for it to deliver. I think they need at least 10 characters for people to jump on board. (And even 10 is kinda lacking) I wouldn't be surprised if they had this released late spring/summer if order to make it the best possible.

Zelda, of course everyone is buying that. I wonder who honestly has the system pre-ordered that isn't picking up Zelda.

Street Fighter 2 looks like a game worth purchasing at a reasonable price.

@The-Butcher248: My brother and his wife have it pre-ordered and only got 1, 2 Switch. They want Snipperclips too though.

@iandizion713:

Interesting... Surprising, but there's nothing wrong with it. I'm curious if the switch console itself motivated them, or 12 switch motivate them to buy the system. To me, i wouldn't think 12 switch had enough to justify a system purchase. i haven't played it or anything, but from what i heard it not something that you'd play for hours and hours.

I'm not a huge zelda fan, but i "made the switch" from wii U, and am getting zelda. To me, it was more i know i'm going to get the switch at some point, i had the store credit to cover the system, bite the bullet now. Was really hoping for a Splatoon launch bundle, or Mario at launch... but seems like Nintendo has their ducks in a row for major releases.

@The-Butcher248: Im not sure. They wanted to preorder before the presentation even started. They are fans of 3DS, Wii U, and even play PC together. They seemed more interested in the ideal of the console. They like that they can be together and enjoy two different things or experience the same thing.

They also have board game parties frequently so i guess thats why they chose 1, 2 Switch. They like Mario Party and all that stuff. That and Snipperclips are only games they preordered. I know my brothers wife wants Mario though.

Ive tried to get my brother into Zelda, he just has never played yet. He even bought Wind Waker HD for cheap and i opened and played it for him. He still hasnt tried it. They play WoW a lot so are slow to play other games.

Zelda was only game i preordered. I have my eyes on others. Like i preordered Binding of Isaac and i want Bomberman, ARMS, and Splatoon. But Zelda is my focus right now.

I feel like nintendo is still being secretive tbh. Like what about the eshop, is it starting from scratch or will it absorb the wii u eshop. This is one of the few aspects of nintendo I hate

@KBFloYd: @Celsius765: They have to be careful. The system is sold out. Dont want to be bragging about super positive stuff only to have people complain they cant preorder it.

Few weeks after the system has launched, Nintendo could be like,

"Hey guys, i know your all enjoying Zelda and other content right now, but the online is coming along great. Heres Netflix, Funimation, Youtube, and other Apps. O and let me tell you about all the new features too."

@iandizion713:

Makes sense, there's probably a large percentage of video game players that don't post online too. I was kinda hoping 12 switch doesn't sell well, and they give us a free download. Zelda isn't for everyone. I think having any Mario title at launch, even a port would help.

@Celsius765

I agree. I was surprised Nintendo left so many unknowns after the press release. I can see it being hard to fit everything in a hour, but you'd think at the treehouse at least. They are basically wanting people to pre-order with blind faith. It works for the die hard nintendo fans, but to reach the masses, it should be clear and concise what people are getting for 300$ plus accessories and games. This info should be available 5 weeks before the system releases.

Sonic Mania is another game that is missing from your list that is scheduled to be released in the Spring.

Personally, I'm very happy with the launch window lineup. There are six games that I'm interested in possibly buying during the Nintendo Switch's first three months which is a higher number than most launch windows for other consoles. If I end up buying all six games that I'm currently interested in then I will buy more games for the Nintendo Switch in it's first three months than I bought for my PS4 in the past three years.

@Celsius765: Thats cause maybe your over thinking it. Its a box, it plays games. Online features and third party support depend on how many are buying it. HBO isnt gonna make an App for your device unless it shows them potential. Same with Star Wars isnt gonna release on Switch unless they feel theyll make good money.

Nintendo will deliver more info, but i wouldnt expect much.

@iandizion713: then um afraid lack of info will be Switch's biggest weakness. You don't get this close to launching a new product and leave your consumers in the dark this much. The overall impression they gave was expect the bare minimum content and features at launch with the inability to handle decade old console features so you need a cell phone to do it instead of a small blue tooth earpiece. All I can think is another direct needs to happen soon or at the very least right at launch. I'm sorry if I sound harsh but the days I'll snap up anything without prior info are long gone. I kinda expected a less barren launch and launch window. There's far too much time in between the games we know of. And let's face it for all we know we'll breeze through Zelda real fast like Twilight Princess that lasted 30 hours for me. I know that seems long but it felt too easy with all the straight forward puzzles.

@Celsius765: And thats fine, just buy it whenever you want . But i see no need to rush info. We already know bout everything about the device. Just a few small details left that arent all that important anyways. But like i stated, there are no consoles to buy, i see no need to rush. It will only make matters worst teasing them with stuff they cant buy. This is how Nintendo has always done launches.

@iandizion713: I see a need because there isn't much time left it's bad enough they waited till the last minute to even give a price and release date. I was really frustrated having to wait this long normally we'd know all this stuff already. I just hope the Switch isn't handicapped forever. Their reason for using smart phones for parental controls and voice chat was pretty weak. Perhaps it's an incomplete OS. I'm just frustrated I guess Nintendo is getting old and its starting to show. I still wanna know how Switch will handle online on the go. Even a few years after launch people carrying a switch around will be rare and you can't depend on smart phone hot spot since data is limited. I'm hoping for a direct on launch day to work out the kinks. I really don't want this secrecy to kill another console it really pushes people away from buying a product. It makes me miss the Nintendo Week show wii had on its video channel. It was silly but informative.

@Celsius765: DS, Wii, 3DS, and Wii U launch this same way too. Nintendo will focus on fixing the system and updating firmware with patches etc. When its finished and working smoothly, then theyll start to release info on Apps and stuff. Nintendo also has plenty of time to talk about the Phone App, it doesnt release till Fall.

Just expect zero system transfer. Nintendo has already stated Switch will not support 3DS or Wii U games.

Is Switch backwards compatible in any way? Will you be able to download or play Wii, Wii U, or 3DS games?

The Nintendo Switch system is not backward compatible with games designed for other systems, and is not currently compatible with controllers designed for other systems. Support for certain controllers may be considered for a future update. We have nothing to announce regarding Virtual Console or other types of digital purchases at this time.

All the bad info is out the way. What Nintendo needs to focus on now is producing more consoles. They shouldnt have sold out so fast.

I am not disappointed in that line up. My family and I have the Switch preordered along with 1, 2 Switch, Bomberman, Puyo Tetris, Zelda and Rime. Will most likely pick up Splatoon and Mario when they come out

@Celsius765: I doubt that, Switch has sold over 2 million preorders. 500k through Gamestop alone which is a NA company. To give context, PS4 sold 2.1million in first 2 weeks. Switch will easily break that record since Nintendo hasnt even released to stores yet.

Launch line up is the best in years, purely because of BOTW and Bomberman. All the other new titles look interesting at the very least. And im sure the ports are good for some people.

I just can't get over the fact that Nintendo is not releasing something alongside Zelda. SNES had F-Zero next to Mario, N64 had Pilot Wings next to Mario 64 (of course nothing else). In my opinion Nintendo needed a very strong launch lineup to get this thing off the ground. Hell, the Wii had Wii Sports and Zelda. 1-2 Switch isn't going to be that game.

There's lot of excited yelling in Japanese and I gotta rescue some models. Oh dear what a hard life! I'm chronicling all on the excellent AAAAAAA MiiVerse app! Stay Tuned! ^_^

I wish Mario Odyssey was a launch window title. I guess they need more time to get it perfect. Look at this!

You can add three more games to that day one line-up. World of Goo, Little Inferno and Human Resource Machine are all confirmed for Switch day one.

@Celsius765:I have to agree with you, Celsius. We're basically a couple of weeks away from the Switch's launch, and I still don't feel like we have all of the details we should have by this point. I would just say, wait and see if you want to get one later on, after there's more clarification on things.

@Cobra_nVidia: I know RIME isn't exclusive, that game has been development for quite a while, and I think was going to be a Sony exclusive originally - now it's multiplat.

Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade 2, Splatoon 2, 1-2 Switch, FE Warriors, ARMS.... I think they're all exclusive.

Probably one of the worst launch line-ups I've ever seen, if not the worst ever.

It's just Zelda. The rest are either old or lame.

ps4 had killzone and knack. that's it

however it released in the holiday so it had madden, fifa, cod ghosts, battlefield 4 and assassins creed.

if i didnt have a wiiu i would get the switch day one. i would pick up zelda, fast, arms, and MK8 early on then look to xenoblade 2 and mario odyssey. thats a solid start.

but i do have a wiiu. so that puts zelda, Fast and MK8 off my list. so im going to wait until later in the year or early next year to pick one up.

...unless it gets monster hunter before then. if it gets monster hunter then all bets are off.

Careful is remaining silent on badly needed knowledge on yet revealed features? Nintendo has a strength with its VC and BC and the company needs to exploit such an advantage to the high heavens. People are already bitching about missing out on pre orders without too much knowledge on the console. Wouldn't you want the same hype train (or close to it) we saw with the Wii happening again on The Switch? Less than five weeks away and we are still in the blind.

@Solaryellow: What do you need to know? We already know bout everything. Guess what, Nintendo Switch already fastest selling console ever with short release window, no backward compatibility, basic info, one game called Zelda, and no e3.

Once Nintendo gets shipments ready, she can attack heavy with ARMS, Mario Kart 8, and Splatoon. Then she has e3 in which case anything could happen.

if i didnt have a wiiu i would get the switch day one. i would pick up zelda, fast, arms, and MK8 early on then look to xenoblade 2 and mario odyssey. thats a solid start.

but i do have a wiiu. so that puts zelda, Fast and MK8 off my list. so im going to wait until later in the year or early next year to pick one up.

...unless it gets monster hunter before then. if it gets monster hunter then all bets are off.

but the new mario kart 8 completely rebalances the game by adding the hold 2 items instead of 1.

now if you are in first, 2nd or 3rd place you can actually protect yourself by holding 2 items.

this helps newb players more than pros.

also, now you can actually play battle mode and have a lot more fun with it.

plus...add 1080p native graphics.

Here is a list of games I am interested in so far for the launch window.

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • Super Bomberman R

March/Spring:

  • Snipperclips, Cut It Out Together (March 2017
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (April 28) (ON MY BIRTHDAY)
  • Shovel Knight (April 2017)
  • Disgaea 5 Complete (April 2017)
  • Puyo Puyo Tetris (Spring 2017)
  • Arms (Spring 2017)
  • Sonic Mania (Spring 2017)

Good list in my opinion.

@KBFloYd: your not really selling it (im assuming your not being sarcastic. my online sarcasam detector is a bit old :S). the trade in i would get for my wii u copy would be poor and the only thing there that i miss is battle mode. its not worth the cost of getting the switch copy.

to be brutally honest a lot of those changes would be patched into the existing game and the battle mode would just be DLC if it was on any other platform.

@iambatman7986: Im currently playing Shovel Knight right now on Wii U. Would be a perfect game for the Switch. Youll love it if you enjoy difficult platformers like Donkey Kong, etc.

@iandizion713: I was about to pick it up on the Wii U, but figured it would be perfect on the go. I've heard nothing but good things about the game. Platformers and rpgs are my favorite genres.

i'm serious. one of the reasons i don't really play mario kart 8 anymore is because i hate being in 1st,2nd,3rd then i get a stupid coin and i have to stay that way until the next item block. i lost so many times because of that. holding 2 items changes that.
