New Pokemon game to be announced in May.

A new Pokemon game is to be announced in Famitsu, on the 21st of May.

No news on if it's a main series title, or a spin-off, but it does seem weird that the announcement isn't coming from Corocoro, or even a Nintendo Direct.

Any ideas on what it could be. Personally I'm hoping for either X/Y 2 (or Z), or Pokken Tournament for Wii U. I'm thinking it's a bit too soon for gen 7.

Otherwise, on the handheld front... I'd rather they make updates or expansions for X/Y and OR/AS. Make a hard mode for the games, create some new areas to explore... I felt like Y felt a little unfinished the first time I owned it, so it would be cool to download some new places to explore in the game. Maybe throw in some brand new mega evolutions, or something.

I'd be willing to bet it's Kalos related.

Pokemon mystery dungeon hype

Would hope it is Pokemon Z, will likely be something I have no interest in.

Hopefully it's a "Z" game and not a new main-line Pokemon game. It'd be too soon for one of those.

Pokken Tournament for Wii U is realistic, but I expect a Pokemon Stadium type game, the always have those.

A pokemon x and y port for wii u would be nice. it would also drive up wii u sales. but i know that ain't going to happen. but i can still dream.

I'm betting it'll be a one of those spinoff games (mystery dungeon, ranger, etc).

Well guys, the announcement has happened, and the super awesome announcement is...

There is ZERO information, except that it'll becoming out end of this year/beginning of next depending on the territory.

Personally wasn't a fan of the series after the original game, and they've consistently gotten worse. I'm also wondering if this'll be another F2P game in the series.

I briefly played the last on on 3DS, it was REALLY boring. 3DS has been disappointing for Pokemon spin-offs.

@megane: TBH, the only spin-off I've enjoyed recently is Pokemon Conquest. I wish we could go back to the N64 era where spin-off's weren't as common, but where actually fun like Stadium and Snap.

Seriously I'd love to get updated versions of both of these, imagine a new Pokemon Stadium where you had access to all Pokemon and battled the Gym Leaders and E4 and champions from all 6 regions, and the 3DS games could connect to it so you could port your teams over, and of course most importantly mini games, and I don't think I even need to talk about Snap, everyone I know wants a new version of that, even some of my friends who are no longer into Pokemon have fond memories of that game and have told me they'd buy a new one if it was released.

I haven't played many spin-offs lately, I hear good things about the Pokemon Ranger and DS Mystery Dungeon games but I haven't tried them, don't know about Pokepark. Conquest is great though.

I found Stadium kind of boring, the mini games were fun but the battles seemed to consist of exchanging one hit KOs. I would LOVE a new Snap game more than anything right now. A new Pokemon TGC would be nice too, I know they have the online version but I think you have to buy the cards still.

Well, it's not surprising, but it's certainly kind of a letdown still. Oh well.
