What HE said. Watchmen is a masterpice, of both paper and cinematic media, and you should consider yourself lucky to be graced with it in your life, Sonicare. Now make your atonement for your previous heresy and you may yet find salvtion.

It was good, not as awesome as the book, and they screwed the ending up (though they didn't really have an option).grapefruit21
I thought the ending was pretty much spot on for the movie adaptation, considering it had to stay in tune with the rest of the movie, it managed to get the same point across as the orignal ending I believe.

Not really. Giant squid aside, the ending devolved into a Kung-Fu fightathon that left a bad taste in my mouth, as well as being devoid of any kind of emotion whatsoever. Veidt in the comic was emotional and conflicted about his actions, while Veidt in the movie came across like Hans Gruber from Die Hard. The movie completely ignored the important discussion of what is right and wrong that was in the book, and they removed the two most powerful imageries of the ending; The shadow from Dan and Laurie having sex that is similar to the nuclear explosion in Dan's nightmare earlier, and Laurie's mother crying and kissing a picture with the Comedian, proving she had feelings for the man despite everything.
Issues with the differences between comic and movie aside, Watchmen as a movie was a mess. The pacing was off, the effects were overblown, the fight scenes became distracting, the relationship between Dan and Laurie were played more for laughs than a serious relationship, actors for certain roles completely took away from their impact in the story (Veidt and Laurie), the music selection was just god awful in certain scenes, and the second half was clearly rushed. The movie had potential, especially with much effort was made in the overall look and feel as well as some excellent casting choices. However, no matter how much I loved the book, I keep my comic and movie fandom seperate. As I said many times in IRC, I cannot seriously look at Watchmen and call it a good movie. Its just not.

I will Never compromise. Even in the face of GUFU armageddon! That is the difference between me and Adobe/Jecht.
I have not seen the movie just because I haven't really liked Zack Synder's other movies he has directed. Even though it has only been 300 and Dawn of the Dead but both were horrible I thought and went for flash and not substance. Now he will ruin Heavy Metal next, I swear he is an overrated directer who doesn't have a single creative bone in his body. How about trying to direct something new that is your own idea? Ugh...spinecaton
LOL....I had wrote out this whole reason why dusk to dawn was a great movie. Then I reread your post. I really did not care for Dawn of the Dead either it felt to much like a rip off. I did however like 300.

LOL, touche, touche good sir :P
the music selection was just god awful in certain scenesRedmoonxl2This was the one major, unforgivable complaint about the movie. The ending coming up short I can kind of understand and the actor playing Veidt did a good job up until the end IMO, but whoever thought the entire "Hallelujah" scene was a good idea should die in a fire.

I felt like a little kid, but I couldn't help but burst out laughing during that scene in the theater.
So i finally watched it, the Blu ray Directors Cut version. 3 hours later and i was left disappointed.
Firstly, the good points. Excellent special effects. Very good acting. Overall production in visuals and audio is of VERY high quality. Characters are well-crafted and their personalities show through. Action is also often very good.
HOWEVER, the film drags on. Connection between scenes often feel disjointed because it focuses on so many characters at once even though the plot between the scenes ARE connected. As a result, i'm often left interested but not excited. The build up after watching all these 'heroes' and unbelievable powers finishes with a whimper as the 'actual' plot and twists underwhelms me - far from my expectations.
Overall, worth watching. I can see it excite many watchmen fans but i think the typical person would think, like i, 'was that it?'.

Meh I'm getting sick of all super hero/comic book movies. I wouldn't be surprised if Green Lantern ends up being the next big thing. Bigboi500I watched Green Lantern First Flight on blu ray too. It was. BAD. Facepalm-worthy actually. On the positive side, i laughed (at it).

I am loving it all. V for Vendetta was the best of them all so far though.
Waiting for the next Iron Man movie.Â
YYYYYESSS!! NICE to see some love for V For Vendetta :D I read the graphic novel years ago. I actually had no idea that there was a movie coming for it when I was in a theatre one day and saw the poster. I just had this slack jawed "no WAY" reaction, with how it came right out of nowhere for me. Then the giddy anticipation ensued, lol. They really captured the essense of the story with that slogan, "People Should Not Be Afraid of Their Governments. Governments Should Be Afraid of Their People."

i enjoyed V for Vendetta. i found it to be a little heavy handed with the political philosophy, though. i know its supposed to be a totalitarian government, and it makes for a good story. however, extremism, be it liberal or conservative, can become a very dangerous thing.
