Last of Kin

Available on Xbox360, PlayStation2 and PlayStation Portable.

The Story:

The game opens in a small village, the name of which is later revealed to be El Eje (The Hub). The only features of the village are a church, a dock which leads onto a river which winds into a canyon and continues out of sight, a few houses, a barn and a dried up fountain. There seems to be no life in this village, as it is deathly quiet, and no motion on it's canvas. The camera zooms into a small wooden shack on the far left of the terrace, which is notably more worn than the others. The camera proceeds through a window frame, and onto a desk, which is empty save for a typewriter, with a piece of parchment with a line of text typed onto. The camera zooms closer to reveal that the text says "April 14th, still no sign of Leon". The player is left to ponder upon what this text means as the beginning sequence plays, a montage of ****c Resident Evil gameplay mechanics.

After the montage we are subject to a blank black screen, with the voiceover of a female reading in the background, the voice says:

"It's been three days since I arrived at the forrest edge, for those three days I have been searching for signs of civilization, and now I realize that I am completely alone in this endless forest ... or am I?"

A cutscene plays, we see a woman slumped against a tree trunk, polishing an M4 assault rifle, a Glock 17 pistol is on the ground beside her. There is a small controlled fire in front of her, accompanied by a rucksack containing simple necessaties such as a radio communications device, a flask of water, a few rounds of ammo and some lipstick. The camera zooms to the female, she raises her head to reveal she is of Chinese origin, the gamer (who is presumed to be familiar with Resident Evil 4) notices it is Ada Wong.

After a few seconds of quiet thought, the sound of a twig snapping can be heard in the background, Ada grabs her things, puts out the fire, and this is where the player assumes control of Ada.

Chapters:

Chapter 1 - The Call of the Dead

In this chapter, the player goes through a small tutorial, to familiarise them with the controls (the tutorial is slightly longer on the Wii version). After this tutorial the player is approached by a rather unsightly character who goes by the name of Vincent Inconfiable (In the Spanish version he is called Largo Brando, to prevent the obvious pun, Inconfiable being Untrustworthy in Spanish). He leads Ada through a small village which is teaming with ganados, this makes up the majority of Chapter 1. Ada must collect three precious stones in order to unlock the DeLaMancha family crypt, which she is told, contains a golden sword, which would cut through ganados much faster than bullets, thus quickening her objective (which is currently still unknown to the player). Ada and Vincent fight through the ganados to find the three stones:

El Rubí Furioso (The Furious Ruby) - which is inside a family crest in a mansion in a large homestead.

La Esmeralda Envidiosa (The Envious Emerald) - which is at the end of an extensive underground labyrinth situated at the bottom of a well.

El Zafiro Deprimido (The Depressed Sapphire) - which is on a necklace which is worn by a woman who drowned herself in the lake many years ago.

Upon collecting all stones, Ada and Vincent enter the crypt and begin a bossfight with El Traidor Equivocado, a large chained ganado who's arms reach longer than most humans bodies. After weakening the enemy plenty, Vincent blinds El Traidor Equivocado and Ada sends a bullet through it's temple, leaving them to collect the golden sword.

Chapter 2 - Dark Temptation

Vincent reveals his true intentions, to sell this valuable sword to a merchant, and buy his way out of the forrest. Ada cannot let this happen, and sends the sword through his skull. Ada is confronted by a dark figure hooded figure, who is revealed to be Rasmus Saddler, the spawn of Osmund Saddler, who had been killed at the end of the previous game, and Rasmus is out for revenge. Despite his intentions, Rasmus is not the primary antagonist of the game. Rasmus sends Ada in search of the Chalice of Light, which, ironically, is located in the darkest depths of the Qualedégo Caves. After killing two or three enemies with the sword, it breaks, and shall never be fixed.

When Ada arrives at the chalice altar, she finds it in the hands of a filthy priest, they fight and the priest is killed by being bludgeoned by his own arm by Ada. Ada returns the chalice to Rasmus, who has relocated to a castle, strikingly similar to the one seen in Resident Evil 4. Rasmus offers Ada the chance to withdraw the power of the Light, giving her increased HP for the rest of the game OR a magical map, giving the locations of all treasures and items of import, as well as a clear route of the next destination etc. The player would struggle without either one, but the player is left to make the difficult choice. After making the choice, Rasmus leads you out the castle, and the chapter ends.

Chapter 3 - Into the Abyss

The rest of the story is not affected by the player's choice, simply different parts would be more difficult and some would be made easier. The player is given the instruction to enter a cave, approximately 2 miles from the castle. When Ada reaches a camp about 3/4 there, she finds a journal, which tells her of Leon S. Kennedy's "descent into darkness". She closes her eyes and the words "April 12th" appear on screen. Ada resumes her romp toward the cave, solving more puzzles, completing tasks and killin ganados. Ada reaches the cave and descends into the depths. The chapter ends.

Chapter 4 - The Belly of the Beast

Chapter 4 is the longest of all chapters, yet requires the very little description. Ada fights her way through hordes of ganados, kills two El Gigantes and meets with Paolo SanFerrero, who guides her out of the cave. Just before they exit, they commence battle with Rasmus Saddler. After Saddler is killed by his own platinum sword, the couple abscond from the cave, and the chapter ends.

Chapter 5 - Nightfall April 13th

This chapter is heavily based on vehicular combat, simply Paolo commandeers the buggy, and Ada fights of enemies. At the end of the chapter, the couple battle a huge worm-like monstrosity, which is killed after excessive ammounts of ammo injected into it's body, and the two continue through a narrow passage on foot. The chapter ends.

Chapter 6 - Sunrise

The words "April 14th" appear on screen, the two fight there way through the forrest until they reach a small village, which is now revealed to be the same village as at the start, El Eje. Ada and Paolo enter the church to begin fighting with an elite group of "rangers". When all three are destroyed, Ada picks up a diamond. At this point, the diamond has no clear use. After clearing the village of life, the two enter a small hut toward the left of the village, where Paolo instructs Ada to stay inside until he returned from his hunt for food. Ada would never see Paolo again, and after hours of solice, she types the words "April 14th, still no sign of Leon" onto the typewriter. She exeunts the hut, and proceeds to the dock, and takes a hovercraft upstream (this is where the village gets its name). The chapter ends with Ada turning the corner/

Chapter 7 - What Might Have Been

Ada commences battle with a submarine creature, from which she withdraws a soaked, leather backed book. When Ada reaches a small cabin at the far end of the lake, she reads the book through thoroughly. She notices one page has been ripped out. After a while, she notices a large teplate on the cover of the book, the exact size of the diamond she recovered from the rangers. She fits the diamond in place and turns it, to reveal another page which was concealed inside the cover. This page is soaked with blood, and the only legible words are "stfne wuh ollo", which of course, makes no sense. If the player is any good at anagrams, they will solve this one alot quicker as the following are not necessary if the player figures it out. Ada travels to an old man, and after gathering ingredients for a tonic, he solves the anagram for her. Either way, the player must guide Ada to a shrine located on the tallest mountain. This shrine is focused at El Illuminados cult, the source of all light, the Sun. Ada fights her way to the shrine, and solves a puzzle. She places the diamond on an altar, which shines a light to a small cave out in the lakeside. She follows the light to the cave, only to be ambushed on several occasions by both El Illuminados and hordes of ganados. When Ada finally reaches the cave, she commences combat with the final boss, a strange mutated creature El Illuminados have named "Sol" after the sun, as this creature's primary attack is a fire spell. It is revealed that Sol was a sorcerer, whose primary intention was to remove all light from the living, and use it's energy to destroy the four corners of the Earth. Sol is finally defeated by Ada when she thrusts the platinum sword into his eye. Sol lets out a cry, blinding light engrosses the scene as his body bursts into flame. The chapter ends.

After the battle we see Ada, bloody and bruised, trudging through the cave, where she finds a ganado, wearing a similar jacket to Leon. Ada pulls out a pistol, the camera pans out to the lake, and a gunshot is heard. It is unknown of whom Ada shot, or what happened henceforth. The player aided Ada through her mission, having never been explained what it was. The player is left to assume her objective was to kill Leon. Some argue she was meant to save him, but was too late. Ada never left the forest. Whether she was killed after completing her objective is still unknown. From the sky the great forest looks verdant and life preserving. Though looks can indeed be deseaving. The player is subject to one final monologue, this time read by an unknown male:

"Ada's mission was carried out. Though she never recieved her reward. The events spanning those three days are to remain unexplained for the rest of existence. That is to say, if no-one survived. Which they didn't".

The voice is similar to Paolo deFerrero's, and the voice does in fact belong to him. This is a play on the Raccoon City incident. All survivors where to swear to secrecy. This gives the audience the impression that he IS alive, somewhere. But the events that followed, would never be documented.

Sega Soccer Slam 2

Gameplay:

Definitely keep the core gameplay but a few tweaks would be nice. Tackling should be much more satisfying and the players should feel far heavier than they do. More control over the dribbling would be nice too and there needs to be far more dribbling tricks. This is arcade indoor soccer after all!

Graphics:

Definitely keep up the character models and stadiums of the past (the styIe I mean). They might've been cartoony but they looked very good. This generation though they could look a hell of a lot better but definitely keep the cartoony styIe.

Sound:

The sound effects in the first one were solid but some better music would have been nice. Considering this is an arcade game you've got to have some music that will get you amped. In fact each team should have their own set of songs and their own individual club song.

Presentation:

Now here is where things change! There needs to be more teams, more modes - perhaps a longer league-20 games per season at least and as many seasons as you want to play - And as we've got the parodies of club teams from different countries how about we have international teams and a world cup added to the mix? How about some Maradonas (though not actually Maradona of course! Just someone who is short and overweight and happens to play for Argentina) some Cruyffs and some Beckenbuers? All taking part in a mini world cup. In fact perhaps we could have all past WC winners taking part?

sonic adventure 3 - since the last half decent sonic game i played was sonic adventure 2 a third one would be a dream come true , even if sega gave us a sonic adventure 2 standard game , the world would be a better place , but better still a cross between soinc rush and sonic adventure , combining 2d and 3d graphics on the next gen consoles has at least the potential to bring us a TRULY amazing experience !!
