What is the BEST Pokémon game?

I think it's hard to decide which one is the best Pokemon game right now. Newer games have made changes in graphics and added gameplay elements that it's hard to think the series without.

However, the best pokemon game at the time of its launch was without a doubt Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal. It was a great improvement over its predecessor and the famous second half of the game with its last battle culmination was an amazing idea.

First 151 Pókemon for me will always win. Hands down. Got me a badass Charizard tattoo on my leg in honour :D

I would have picked gen 1 but there were too many design repeats I had to knock it's creativity.

Pokémon X, Y

Gold and Silver were my favorite because it implemented the day/night system and you could go back to Kanto.

Gold/Silver/Crystal (Generation 2). End of topic.

In recent times I enjoyed Black the most. The menus were much quicker and I liked that I could only catch the new Pokémon at first.

Not sure how the originals are winning when gold/silver/crystal did everything better.

I admit that gen 1 has done a good job but Gen 2 really did it better. With their Night and Day cycle, two maps/ regions, two sets of gym leaders, and your character from gen 1 as a final boss. Nintendo just created a masterpiece sequel (In that era of course).

R/B and G/S are still my favorites, though I guess R/B wins out because the idea was brand new at the time and it was an instant classic.

I think gen 3 and 4 had a lot of good moments, but with gen 5 I think everything really went kind of overboard. Gen 6/7 has much nicer graphics, but the gameplay has suffered a lot and thrown away any difficulty and decision-making the series once had.

Pokémon Snap... hands down.

I played the Pokémon X, Y

Emerald because it was the first game that I actually owned. I did play Gold, Silver, and Yellow, but those games belonged to my older siblings (my sister had Silver while my older brother had Gold and Yellow). I also grew to love the Pokemon Emerald the best. Though I also like Gold and Silver, and Diamond and Pearl.

For me, the first generation was always the best. Even though they remade Red and Blue, I wish they would remake Yellow. That being said, I am pretty confident that they will remake generation 1 again using the current mechanics.

Pokemon Omega Ruby. It’s what got me into the entire Pokemon franchise, and it will always be my favorite game.

Pearl for sure

HeartGold and SoulSilver! Always been really fond of those games and I don't think any other Pokemon games since have paralleled them in being consistently enjoyable and content-filled. I really hope the Pokeathlon and more unique safari zones make a return in the future. Fantastic soundtrack, too.

Not sure it's fair that some games get grouped together with their upper versions while others don't in this poll though haha.
