Like any well-developed characters, these three had a balance of strengths and weakness. Though Ciri is incredibly strong and resilient, I found this cheapened by the fact that she is an incessant complainer and can be moody at times. Not nearly as moody, however, as the vengeful and condescending Yennefer. Triss is probably the most likable female lead; she is sweet and sentimental, almost to a fault. The main kudos I would give to all of these women is that they maintain their independence and fierce spirit in the face of rampant misogyny and, in the case of the latter two, the bigotry and persecution of magic users.
Choosing between Yen and Triss as love interests was not too difficult; I personally could not stand Yen as her sharp tongue, sour disposition and all-together emasculating attitude reminded me too much of previous girlfriends I have had. Triss had the same strong will and intelligence as Yen while remaining fun, cheerful and compassionate.
However, I would have to say my favorite of these three is Ciri. I previously commented on her frequent complaining and moodiness, but I am much whinier than she is, and I am fortunate enough not to be in constant peril and have the fate of the world placed on my shoulders. The relationship the player builds with her is complex, engaging and creates a level of empathy that is rarely developed in a video game. She has had a traumatic life and, no matter what the player's choices throughout the game were, does what few would do for the sake of the world. (Trying to avoid any type of spoiler.) She is a triumphant character.
