If you could only play one, then which Final Fantasy would you play?

If your concerned about graphics and such, you may want to play X just because it's more recent and remade, if your looking for the most iconic experience, VII and VI are the most remarkable in the series.

Final Fantasy VII. I dunno I just love that game.

To be fair though they are all very close.

All of them are good, I'm a big fan of ffx, I love the story, the characters, the graphics are incredible but I have to agree with the others VII has the iconic story which is talked about and loved all over the world yet my fave is VIII, it's the first one I ever played so nostalgia plus loads of love for certain characters means I'd play that game over and over again.

FFX for newest game, XI for best I say

"Final Fantasy VI" -- the cream of the crop in the franchise for its plot and characters. It was ported to mobile devices like Android fairly recently, in case you don't have a SNES or GBA to play it. The best version of them is the GBA/ Mobile for both have additional content to prolong playtime.

Just wait for dat vii remake coming next year bruh.

VII although I believe XII to be a close runner up. VII was my first and it endows many nostalgic and awesome memories. I will never grow tired of it. I would have to disagree with the FFX being the most recent best FF. While I did enjoy FFX/X-2, Final Fantasy Type O HD delivers hours and hours of replayability and sports an amazing combat system.

I think 7 was remarkable for its story, characters, art direction, music and so forth - that's what makes it the best FF game in my mind. The game itself is somewhat easy and the difficulty is not consistent late in the game, however. From a gameplay standpoint, IX is probably one of the more challenging and complex games, as is VIII.
