Zeus' penis generates a lot of traffic for Ubisoft.

I don't know if it was exactly planned by Ubisoft (especially if you familiar with Ubisoft live service model, in which game also markets itself), but it seems to be a really good traffic boost going towards Assassin's Creed Odyssey right now, it definitely creates initial buzz to new players.

When Origins was released, I remember how they changed few historical facts to not offend people, like one picture of apprentice (who traditionally back in the day was a male person and the real picture shows only boy), but they changed the picture to include male and female apprentices. I mentioned this because some people say that it's offensive that if you play as female character you can climb a penis, but Ubisoft was careful before (being a European company, includes European laws) and probably made this in the game to test their live service.

P.s. Not a conspiracy theory if you'd think so, just a Marketing and Business.

Naked Gods, monsters, and Heroes. Seems accurate to Greece (culture they're very proud of) and its mythology.

Sad that vocal groups on the Internet, from parts of the world *cough US*, are trying to control what is and isn't acceptable to everyone's standards.

I wonder if it was a hard decision to put it in.

@warmblur: this decisions come from the top, and I'm pretty sure they had 3 ways: make it authentic (and this will generate self marketing), cut/censor penis from the statue (will also create some sort of buzz, but not like first), don't put naked statues in the game (bad idea). And they choose the best for the game, which is appreciated.

God of War games already done this with the Greek Mythology. (Not the latest game cause it's Norse Mythology)

@davillain-: I recall people getting upset at the outfits in the GoW (Olympus saga) also.

The only thing I dislike more from Internet-vocal groups than damaging creators intent, is being offended and loud pests towards other peoples culture/ history/ mythology.

If these people get this upset now at a accurately portrayed statue of Zeus, wait till they read Aphrodite is born from the castrated genitals of Ouranos.
