I don't know if it was exactly planned by Ubisoft (especially if you familiar with Ubisoft live service model, in which game also markets itself), but it seems to be a really good traffic boost going towards Assassin's Creed Odyssey right now, it definitely creates initial buzz to new players.
When Origins was released, I remember how they changed few historical facts to not offend people, like one picture of apprentice (who traditionally back in the day was a male person and the real picture shows only boy), but they changed the picture to include male and female apprentices. I mentioned this because some people say that it's offensive that if you play as female character you can climb a penis, but Ubisoft was careful before (being a European company, includes European laws) and probably made this in the game to test their live service.
