Another year over, time to look back at what 2012 brought to your collection!

I've recorded a video of the 5 items I got in 2012 that I consider the best additions to my collection
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiJiJuRuHmk

I'm curious to see what your top 5 is and why you choose those 5 (or 3, or 10, or 100 whatever you prefer ^^)

Wild Arms 1

Shadow Hearts: From the New World

Shenmue 2 (I FINALLY freaking found it at New York Comic Con for only $30. That seems cheap for a gem such as Shenmue 2. Most of the good PS2 games there were $60 or $70.)

Beyond Good and Evil

Medal of Honor: European Assault (Best Medal of Honor game. It has really great atmosphere.)

Gotta love Play n Trade. That's where I bought all these games from. (Except for Shenmue 2.) They have so many good retro games, I wish I could buy them all. They're slowly making me go bankrupt.

I also bought Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland, Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3, Shenmue 1, Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga, Metal Gear Solid 1 and Tetris for the NES from them this year.

5. The Walking Dead- loved the art style of the games, Lee and Clementine just pull you in as you see them grow as characters.

4. Lego The Lord Of The Rings- not really a fan of the Lego games but I am a big Lotr fan, the Lego humor actually fits very well into this adaptation of Lotr.

3. Mass Effect 3- not the way I pictured seeing my Shepard story end but rest of the game was actually pretty good

2. Xcom Enemy Unknown- strategy games are a hit for miss for me since I can be very picky of the genre, this time it was a huge hit.

1. Far Cry 3- has everything I could possibly want in a FPS, plus I love the Far Cry games.

Neocore games studio.

King Arthur series I like a lot. More than Total War. Because it has more personality and an interesting plot.

After that, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, actually. It's an impressive rollercoaster.

Also I've been rediscovering city-building games like Tropico 4 and Grand Ages Rome

Spec Ops the Line had some impressive story-telling and environment

My top games of 2012:

Mass Effect 3. Hands down, my favorite game of 2012. A fantastic conclusion to an epic trilogy. It rewards you with great new characters and familiar old ones, as well as a wonderful atmosphere and an emotionally charging story.

Halo 4. The start of the new Reclaimer Trilogy, Halo 4 introduces a great new world, enemy, and familiar fun playing as Master Chief. The new enemies were also quite challenging.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The newest foray in the COD series did a fantastic job of taking us into historic military operations from the 80s and futuristic-yet-not-silly fights in the near future.

Scribblenauts Unlimited (Wii U). This was my first time playing Scribblenauts. It provides a nice puzzle-based change of pace.

New Super Mario Bros. U. A great new Mario sidescroller. Provides that kind of challenge that is so absent in most modern games such as FPSs.

In terms of best games:

Xenoblade-one of the best RPGs I've ever played

Castlevania Symphony of the Night-one of my favorite Castlevanias

Devil May Cry 3-my favorite hack 'n slash and PS2 game I've played so far

Demon's Souls-again one of the best RPGs I've played and certainly the most challenging

Tales of Symphonia-another great RPG

In terms of prices:

-Finding Lufia 1 for $25, I haven't found it cheaper than $30 online yet

-Waiting to buy PS3 games until now for so cheap

-Getting Kid Icarus for $30 at launch

That's all I can think of.

Well I don't really 'find' any games per se as I tend to keep current, follow the industry closely, and know what I'm shopping for when I go to buy games. I also really just shop at big retail stores as well. Anyway my top 5 games I purchased in 2012 were:
  • Halo 4
  • Mass Effect 3
  • Tekken Tag Tournament 2
  • Dragon's Dogma
  • Black Ops 2

1. DCS: A10C Warthog. I think the graphics are good, and I like the simulation aspect. Fun to play in spurts. The game's tutorial can feel like you are taking a class in how to operate the plane and its weapon systems; still fun though.

2. Fallout: New Vegas. I played a demo of Fallout 1 and I didn't like it, so I stayed away from the series until 2012. For Fallout NV I thought the graphics were pretty good, and the story sucked me in.

3. Tomb Raider Underworld. I like the graphics, and the platforming.

4. Crusader Kings II. Almost didn't make the list, but still a fun strategy game. A major plus is I got the game cheap on Steam along with cheap DLC. Spent around 25 Hrs with it, but I will probably give it another play through.

My top five game finds in 2012 where :

- Secret of Mana (SNES) for 3.50$

- Skyes of Arcadia legends (Gamecube) for 4$

- Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii) for 0$ (actually bought 2 games for 15$, and sold the other one for 20$)

- Tales of Symphonia (Gamecube) for 5$

- Ninja Five-O (Gameboy Advance) for 7$

Other notable finds (gamecube : Fire Emblem 7$; Phantasy Star Online I & II 3$; Zelda Windwaker & Master Quest for 20$)

(Wii : Metroid Prime Trilogy 30$; DK Jungle beat new 10$)

Not much so far in 2013 but still had good finds last year, considering that these kind of deals are harder to come by.
