I was at my game store and they had Final Fantasy VII for 40 bucks (which i was not shocked at) and they said that that was a lowered price because it was on PSN, he said it was originally 70 bucks, i though that was crazy! Would you pay that much for Final Fantasy VII (Before it was on PSN?)

That was probably a while back. I remember several years back when FF VII was going for $14.99 for new copies.

Nope. Before the PSN version I could find it for $35 around my local retailers.

Even then I wouldn't spend money on it. It frickin sold 10 million copies! It's like saying Zelda games should cost $50-$100.......That's just wrong.

I have it, pay 20 bucks. Also 70 bucks would be for a factory sealed one.

Probably. It's certainly a flawed game, but in the context of it's time it was amazing and it has a lot of heart. I like the game and $10 more than the price of a new game wouldn't be totally out of my price range.

That's what I payed back then. I wouldn't have paid much more than that though.

This game has recently shot up in value lately. I really have no idea why, but it went from around a $20 game to around a $70 game. Even on Ebay, a black label version is around that price. I sold a black label one years ago. A store near me has a greatest hits one right now for $70. I snicker every time I see it because all of their other prices are great. But no, I wouldn't pay that much. It's something I'll almost certainly get in a box of PS1 stuff someday at a yardsale or flea market for a few bucks.

Chrono Cross is a classic. There are less copies of it floating around, and yet I got a black label copy on Ebay a few weeks ago for $15 shipped.

Before psn? No. When I bought my copy off of ebay a few years ago(before FFVII even came out on PSN), I would not pay anymore than $40 for it. I got lucky one day, found it for $40 on buy-it-now, and bought it then and there.

Just buy the green labels. Sure they're not as pretty, and FFVIII's beautiful disc artwork is gone ... but eh.

No. But that's only because I found the absolute last brand new copy in the city a few years ago for $35. And I've found 2 more copies since then, one for $10 (and it was a black label 2) and a second for $15. I sold both for proffit :D

New means it is sealed. Sealed games can go for a fortune. If it's open, it doesn't matter if it was never even popped out of the case, it's used.

Not worth it. I would have paid that much for some older SNES RPGs, but not FFVII.

The going price for black label FF7 varies widely depending on the condition of the discs, case, and booklet. Frankly, I think it's pretty silly that sealed vs unsealed can make a difference in $20-$30. That's some expensive plastic wrap lol. In any case, no, I wouldn't pay $70 for FFVII... but then again, I wouldn't pay that much for any console game, whatsoever. Not that it really matters, I've had my own black label FFVII for something like 9-10 years. Definitely not in any kind of condition to resell, but I never planned on selling it anyway. The booklet is in decent condition, but the case is cracked and half broken, and the discs are pretty scuffed, though no "major" scratches.

Chrono Trigger is a classic. Chrono Cross not so much. To most gamers it's just another jrpg. It did reach greatest hits status so while there are less copies floating around compared to FFVII, there are plenty of copies out there to satisfy the demand.

Yeah i dunno, i got chrono cross back when it came out black label.... played through it, and wasn't too impressed. I know a lot of gamers love chrono cross and think it's the best JRPG since trigger, but I just don't see it
