I'm debating whether to buy a Wii U now and a PS4 next year. I was set to just buy a PS4 and no Wii U at all, but there's not much I want to play on PS4 at the moment. All of the games I want for it come out next year. Really big into JRPGs and Japanese games not so much FPS games. Would a Wii U be worth it now and then pick up the PS4 next year?

I'd say yea. Some of the biggest games of the wiius life time have been coming out with more still coming. Mario kart 8 most recently and smash bros soon enough. Ps4 doesn't really have any big exclusives yet other than imfamious you can play most games on PC, ps3 or 360.

Yeah. It's what I'm doing and I'm not regretting it one bit (Bought a Wii U at the end of 2012 and intend to get a PS4 next year if the games start coming). It already has some of the best games I've played in a very long time on it and is set to get a few more great titles before 2015 hits.

If you are only going to buy one console this year, I would definitely recommend the Wii U as it has by far the best library of games right now. My Xbox One and PS4 are mostly gathering dust right now and I don't expect that to change much until their big games start coming out in 2015.

Easy....If you are going to buy both and the Wii U has the games you like now than that is what I would get. I have both, but prefer my PS4 game. So totally depends on which games you like.

Buy a Wii U

Save money

Buy a PS4 later

Give the rest to charity

I recommend getting a Wii U, then you could get a PS4 in Spring of 2015 or something. I would not recommend getting a PS4 right away in 2015, I give 2015 sometime before getting it.

The Wii U seems pretty good.

The PS4 though..... I'd suggest actually waiting for Japanese games release before buying one. The system seems to barely be getting anything at all let alone Japanese games.

I'd suggest either a PC, Wii U, 3DS, or a variety of older consoles if you want Japanese games.

I'd personally buy neither. They both don't have enough games available right now to warrant a purchase, although the Wii U has more (2 as opposed to 0). Still not enough though.

@glitter: They would have had a sale this year had Arkham Knight not gotten pushed to 2015. Waiting on that, MGSV, MKX, and Bloodborne.

Yeah there's not much on the PS4 at this point. So if the Wii-U games interest you why not buy it first then pick up a PS4 next year. Seems like a plan.

The Wii U has a great lineup right now, but the problem is that with the exception of only a handful of titles, there's not a lot on the way. I'd say it's a great investment just for Mario Kart 8 and the other Mario titles though. Plus you have Wind Waker HD

@KaijuSlayer666:

What games are you wanting to get on Wii U? I ask as you say you were set to not buy a Wii U so I am just curious whether you are best of waiting and buying a PS4 later on without a Wii U or even if getting a PS4 so you can play on what is out now rather than buying a system you do not want. However, that said, there are some interesting games out now on Wii U and coming in the next year or so, so if you do have some games on that system you want, then it seems like a good idea to go with that one now and the PS4 later as the PS4 may get a price drop in the future which I think the Wii U already has had?
