Why do some gamers insult others for enjoying a game they don't like???

I've been seeing this alot lately especially in youtube . . . The best example I could give is Final Fantasy 13, now I personally enjoyed this game alot if I were to rate it according to how much fun I had with it it'll probably score around 8.5/10 . . . Then there are a whole lot of people who not only bash the game but the people who liked them as well, saying things like "Final Fantasy 13 is the worst game ever, and people who actually enjoyed the game is most likely suffering from a mental illness." Seriously? now, I don't think a fanboy is the proper term here because their not really taking sides whatsoever, they just hate the game and all who likes it PERIOD . . . There are plenty of other games out there which are somewhat like this like COD and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 . . . So why do you guys think that there are people who says these things???

That doesnt sound that bad. Some may group others into a a category for liking a certain game ( i know i do ), thats not a big deal, however when they insult you directly & then proceed to disrespect you for not having the same opinion then that is crossing a line that doesnt need to be crossed.

When there is true hostility & disprect directed at a person that is a problem. Some gamers just have no respect as human beings. I dont know why. We can always argue & debate things but when gamers start insulting & making things personal they clearly have are the ones with a "mental Illness"

That aside we can all joke with one another about ourselves, different opinions, group each other into certains categories, but all gamers need to understand there is a line that doesnt need to be crossed because of different opinions.

Cause it's easier to bash someone for what they like or what they've done than it is to say to someone yeah you're right, or you can do whatever you want. Me,well I've tried FF12 and just didn't like it. I don't bash others for liking it. Hell I love playing the Dynasty Warriors games and they always get low scores and people bash it cause it's so simple. But sometimes it's the simple games that I enjoy just as much as the other games. If it's a game you really like and enjoy playing, just go with it. To hell with what others think about it.

Sadly, a large portion of gamers are an anti-social bunch who loath just about every thing, including themselves. Also a lot of it has to do with very young people just being immature.

It's how we ensure the success of the next generation. We clash and the loser is killed or exiled, thus ensuring that only the strongest genes are passed on to our offspring.

It's the same with people who like a game having to stick up for it whenever someone expresses the opposite opinion - like their girlfriend has just been insulted or something.

Of course most Youtube comments are written by people who dropped out of school in third grade and type by pounding their fists into the keyboard.

Because they are morons?

I would guess it's just one way to feel better about themselves. By insulting someone like that, it's a way of telling themselves that they're better for not liking whatever it is.

Because they're immature...

I've never played a CoD game in my life yet i respect the franchise.

But do CoD players respect us?

That's just what happens. People don't like my opinion about not liking MGS4 all that much but it's always "But iz greatest game evr made" and my differing opinion bugs them for some reason

I'd just say those people tend to be insecure. I have my preferences, I have my opinion. I won't verbally attack or abuse somebody because they share a different opinion. However some people don't have the knowledge of a specific subject and therefore should hold their opinion to themselves till they have some form of credibility.

But to just bash someone for no reason is completely uncalled for. Don't let it bother you if somebody does stuff like that, as I always say... if you want to find the worst kinds of people, look no further than the Youtube comments section.

That's human nature.

I'll never understand it, and see a very scary problem growing with people on this site being so elitist that they'll stoop to name calling for people enjoying a popular game. Heaven forbid they have fun and no, they shouldn't be ridiculed or insulted for liking any game. It's not your money, or your time, so get over yourselves.

Because this is the internet, a veil of anonymity covers everyone and causes people to say extremely rude, ignorant, xenophobic things. It comes with the territory.
