Who is your favorite new video game character introduced this generation?

Nathan Drake in a landslide for me. I've been a big Uncharted fan since the release of Drake's Fortune, I had it pre-ordered, but it just now kinda dawned on me how good of a character Nathan Drake is. I think the fact that the Uncharted series is most likely finished will only add to the greatness of the character, because it won't get worn out or overused. I'm pretty sure that the Uncharted series is wrapped up based on Naughty Dog's track record. Not including handhelds, 3 Crash games and a Crash Kart Racer. 3 Jak games and then a Jak Kart Racer. 3 Uncharted games, and then an Uncharted Kart Racer?

Lol, crazier things have happened I guess.

I have to go with Nathan Drake as well. He has become my favourite character in gaming history thus far.

Second place for best new character of this generation would be Ezio from the Assassin's Creed series. In my opinion of course.

Ooh, so many good characters this gen. Ezio Auditore is definitely up there, at least in AC2. Thane Krios and Garrus from Mass Effect are also always good choices. I kind of liked Cole Phelps as well.

Geralt of Rivia and Nathan Drake. Alan Wake was an welcome change from generic male fps lead character too, and I actually liked Psycho from Crysis/Warhead.

Oh yeah i'd go for a few ME characters too. Batman is super BAMF and awesome but he wasn't introduced this gen.

One character that has gotten my attention is Ezio Auditore. Love that character!

Sweetwater and Haggard from Bad Company,It's nice to see characters with humour instead of the humourless,dull,meatheads you see in games.

I liked Yuri as well and found his character to be one of the most compelling things about the game. He had a hard, no-nonsense, almost cold streak in him that I wasn't expecting from my prior experience with the Tales games.

Maybe Ezio Auditore or War and Death from Darksiders. I haven't even seen much about Death and I'm already loving it.

Elena Fisher from the Uncharted series.

Kainé from Nier was great too, as were Trip and Monkey from Enslaved. Commander Shepard ranks right up there too. And Caddoc and E'lara from Hunted the Demon's Forge.

GLaDOS is awesome in both games.
Wheatley and Cave Johnstone are awesome from Portal 2
The Sniper in Team Fortress 3 is hilarious but so are most of the rest of the cast.

They just do such a good job. If I have to pick one it's GLaDOS.

Why are people picking Batman and Bruce Wayne? They're not new characters introduced by games this gen... me confused.

No one beats Frank West. He covered wars you know.

Also worth mention; Cole McGrath (good choices version. Bad Cole was a putz) And that guy who said John Marston had the right idea. Marston was awesome. I'll always go with Frank as a personal choice, but if Marston won some kind of "New character of the generation" award, I would not contest that.

Cole Phelps is a great choice. I'm playing through L.A. Noire right now for the first time, almost finished, and he is an excellent character.

Nathan Drake (Uncharted) - The character has a smug charm that you rarely see in video games. As well as genuine humor in his writing.

Alan Wake (Alan Wake) - He's not a fighter or a super hero. He's an ordinary guy in a surreal nightmare, and the fact that you are hearing his thoughts and feelings as narrative through the entire game gives you a unique sense of connection to him.

Vincent (Catherine) - Another flawed every-man character. He's not fighting aliens, he's not trying to save the world. He's trying to save (or break off) his strained relationship with his girlfriend, wondering how he keeps ending up in bed with a strange blond girl, and why he keeps having deadly nightmares every night.

But my top pick by a landslide.....

Andrew Ryan (Bioshock) - The man responsible for the creation of the city of Rapture. He's little more than a voice coming out of a speaker for most of the game. Yet thanks in large part to the fantastic voice acting of Armin Shimerman, projects a menacing intellect and conviction to his cause that makes you admire and despise him all at once. He's a character I won't soon forget.

Isaac Clarke is my pick as well. He may not say anything in the first game, but the man does not mess around.

John Marston is also a huge contender, fantastic character from a fantastic game.
