Who are Khajiit based on?

All the races in The Elder Scrolls are somewhat based on cultures and ethnics.

Imperials, Roman

Bretons, Mid Europe-Balkan(?)

Nords, Nords(obviously)

Redguards, East Africans(?)

Dunmer, Asian-Mid East

Orcs, Mongolians

Bosmer, Amazons-Native American

Altmer, Greek

Argonian, Tribal African(?)

But what are the Khajiit?

I'm not exactly sure but I think it might be Ottomans-Turks because I see a lot cultural similarities. Also I think that skooma is a reference to opium. Opium is made of poppy flowers that the Turks use in cooking similar to how Khajiit use moon sugar as an cooking ingredient.

What do you guys think the Khajiit are based on, do you agree with me?

No, no, Argonians are Jamaicans and the Khajiit are Africans! You can tell from the ceremonial headdresses they wear and tribal stuff they use. Very close to African culture, I think.

@denklord: The Khajiit are like gypsies. They travel in caravans, set up a mercantilism camp, then leave together. I like the Khajiit.

I'd say Thai and Korean.

I was going to say Arabs, specifically some sort of Bedouin.

In Skyrim, they seemed much like a cross between a Gypsy and a Bedouin; nomadic traders that were looked down upon by society.
