so I'm probably getting a new game next week and I'm looking at open world games as they give plenty of playtime. There's loads out there but I was thinking of either sunset overdrive, shadow of mordor or infamous second son.

All three got decent reviews so I'm indecisive about which to get. Feel free to mention other similar games. Though I've already played through ac unity and gtav.

@Tokeism: I've thought about witcher 3. I like the look of the world and story but I prefer action titles over rpg so I'm not sure. I didn't like all the stats and crafting and whatnot in skyrim,. Is the witcher anything like that?

Right now I'm in love with the Witcher 3. Not so stat heavy as other RPGS have been in the past (which I also dislike), but as for crafting and alchemy.....hoo boy. Yea, it's very in depth. VERY. But also very satisfying to finally get those sword schematics you've been searching for crafted by a master blacksmith.

But if you like the medieval era, and like having good quest design and consequences for your actions, you really can't go wrong. It's an excellent game, easily one of the best RPGs I've ever played.

Tomb Raider is semi open world but it's still a very good game.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm still not quite decided but probably going to go shadow of mordor and pick up witcher 3 when the price drops abit just incase I cant get into it.

Of those choices, I'd go with Shadow of Mordor

Mordor's a good game with a solid combat system (that they straight up stole from the Batman games). My only gripe with it besides the overly familiar combat was that the open world environment was one big drab battlefield and it wasn't that interesting to explore.

Far Cry 3 and 4 would probably be up your alley. There is progression and crafting in those but it's pretty simplistic compared to a traditional RPG.

Witcher 3 is awesome but complex. However, it's got a much better combat system than Skyrim and it's pretty action heavy. If you want a fight, you'll have no problem finding one at any point in that game.
