Many consider the second title: Crimson Butterfly the best in the series. Overall is one of the best survival horror game series ever made.

ok thanks beacuse this gen is lacking in good horror games and i just picked up fatal frame 2 new for 30.

2 - it's the scariest one, imo. Part 1 & 3 are very good too.

2 has the best story and the camera's added features made things much easer. 1 is considered the most difficult/scariest, because life restore items are limited and the camera had limited abilites/visual helpers. 3 is the longest (because it's 3 games/characters, in one); but lacks suspense, because you can leave the dream world at anytime, and when you do all life restore items, respawn. Plus, the Xbox version of 1 and 2 are considered better than the PS2,'s version, because the Xbox version has added content. 3 was never ported to the Xbox. And 4 was never released outside of Japan....and was never ported to the Xbox or PS2 from the Wii.
