Perhaps i'm looking too far ahead here, but with the release of two Assassins Creed games at once, bringing us to at least 7 games in the series, it's probably safe to say that we've visited a considerable amount of time periods in the Animus. So what time period and location should the series go to next. I myself still want to see a feudal China or Japan location, especially with the release of the Assassins Creed mobile game set in China, this could be a great bridge to a new time period.

Ubisoft need to take Assassins creed a lot more serious and stop churning out crappy games like AC 3 and AC unity, but that would be like hoping santa and the easterbunny do exist.

But a good time period would be london during the 1800´s

My number one choice would be China.... lots of long history there. The martial arts aspect might also allow some cool hand to hand combat like sleeping dogs for some thing a little different. China itself would offer some cool locales etc.

Speaking of cool locales and environments, a game set in Africa would also open up new game play possibilities and what not.

then my 3rd option would be Japan. With the samurais and all that it would be cool too.

I watch a lot of 9GAG, and I saw this post recently: World War II. Awesome game! Last mission: kill Hitler! I would definitely enjoy this game and would like to see the Templars interfere in WWII. (Nothing against Germans)

BTW: Unity will have a DLC named Chronicles, where? China and Japan. Your question answered.

Duh... Japan ! People just want Ninjas, they should stop beating around the bush and give them what they want. and shouldn't the question be "WHEN should Assassin's Creed go next ?"

I think an Assassin's Creed game covering the time period of Julius Caesar's assassination and then the war between Antony/Cleopatra and Octavian would be really great. It has everything needed to make a great Assassin's Creed story and we could explore two great settings in Ancient Rome and Ancient Egypt.

Only a feudal Japan or China can save this game as of now. I'm tired of seeing the same old scenery.

If they have to make another one...I'd like to see the Industrial Era, Cold War Europe, or a modern setting.

It should honestly go to the 2016 release calendar. That series is getting really stale with yearly installments. Japan would be cool, maybe Russia? Maybe go back to the arabian-nights feel of the first one. But please dont come out next year. Annual games stink.

I agree that the series is getting old, but I don't think it should be completely trashed. I completely agree that they should stop spitting games out every year though, yearly releases are possibly one of the worst things in games.

What we need ( don't get me wrong, I love Assassins Creed), is to the Assassins to attack the Templars in the modern time. Sabotage the Abstergo Buildings. Maybe Desmond, but I doubt he will be good... I will enjoy a game on the modern day with Assassins vs Templars. Stop the Animus and get shit done with those Templars douchebags! Maybe the Kenway dude ( I haven't finished Black Flag) could kick ass.

I think Ubisoft made an announcement recently saying that they did receive plenty of requests for it to be set in Feudal Japan but it is very unlikely that they will choose that time period to go to next since they are more focused on lesser known time periods.

It should go into a two year cycle that way they will have enough time to do actually do something innovative with the game instead of releasing a broken game.

for the good of ubisoft it needs to die.

ubisoft are obviously trying hard to establish their own yearly guaranteed seller, a la call of duty. they're following the cod model which is essentially for each new game to have tiny, incremental improvements on top of a proven formula. trouble for ubisoft is that they still don't yet have a proven formula. assassin's creed has never quite got it right and it's never had (and imo never will have) a multiplayer comparable to cod in terms of popularity.

my theory (lol) is that assassin's creed is a by-product of splinter cell conviction, the first draft that was never released. judging from the early details that were leaked they share quite similar gameplay mechanics. conviction was scrapped and ac was born (my theory!). then after its success they decided to base the new sc games around the ac template. it would explain why each splinter cell game since has stopped feeling like a traditional sc game and instead increasingly shares more with ac. same with far cry 3 and watch dogs.

and this is the issue - assassin's creed has made ubisoft lazy. a lot of the games they're making seem to be from the ac mould and as they churn the ac games out by the bucket load the quality has been all over the place. it peaked with black flag but judging from the horrendous state unity was released in - and that they tried to release two different ac games simultaneously - it seems that value for the consumer isn't a concern for ubi right now. hopefully there will be a reaction from the community because it's not just pc gamers who get the broken version this time - the console version is fcked too and the review embargo was a joke. it's a shame as they were an awesome company 10+ years ago. imo the quicker they ditch asassin's creed and stop making games from that template, the quicker they'll get back to releasing genuinely good (and non-derivative) games again

How are the American and French revolutions "lesser known time periods"? I think Ubi are making a mistake blatantly ignoring what so many fans have asked for.

Personally i think the China/Tibet/India area has loads of potential

I'd like it to at least have a 2 maybe even 3 year break because it is starting to become a bit milked. Don't get me wrong I am a fan of the series but it seems to be declining apart from Black Flag which was better than 3 by a distance and a break of maybe 2 or 3 years might be a good idea.

I mean since 2009 there has been about 8 games in a 5 year cycle and I think maybe Ubisoft needs to give the series a rest for a couple of years,

In other words, they are just coming up with excuses. But that is exactly what they said:

"So, Assassin's Creed is one of those games that can take [lesser-known] time periods or corners of the world and make them cool, fun, new and refreshing."Feudal Japan would work as an Assassin's game, for sure, but I feel like it would start to look like 'oh, have I played this?' You know what I mean - 'oh, I've been a ninja before, I've been a samurai before'."

I personally want them to go to Ancient Greece next :)

No where. It's time to move on. I never was a fan of the series but even then, It outdid it's welcome after like the 4th one. Hell it's the same situation that happened with all the final fantasy 13's. Why would I buy a game in a series where I didn't enjoy playing the first or even second or even third iteration(Tried at friends)? Pumping out more of the same shit with a slight twist or different story isn't going to change the fact it's the same shit, that I didn't like and haven't been buying for years.

they should make "ASSASSIN´S DUTY", a mix of assassin´s creed and call of duty, just because of all those haters these days
