So, with the release of the mega-blockbuster that is MW3, where do you think COD will head next?

New engine, perhaps?

What setting ( done pretty much everything exept sci-fi) ?

Different enemies( If I get one more game with Russians as enemies...)?

They haven't gone anywhere new with anything since 2007, why make an actual change to their game now?

I'm sure Activision have enough money made from CoD to fund a new war and then make a game about that.

Well, they haven't done anything new since 2007. But even Activision would be stupid to use the same engine and gameplay over and over again. Even though I enjoyed MW3, it's starting to get boring and repetitive. If they don't innovate by 2013 ( next Infinity ward game), people simply won't buy it ( as much).

As for the setting, I don't know. I think they are done with modern warfare and have to move on to a different era.

I remember being totally blown away by Call Of Duty and the visual punch it brought with it. Today, it's now become the Madden of FPS. Little has changed, minor tweaks are made, everything stays the same, and people buy it anyway. Hoping against hope, I bought it to see if any of the problems were corrected and it's sad to report that none of those problems have been addressed. It's too bad...the more they do this, the quicker the series will go into the grave...

Unfortunately, that last part is nothing more but a pipe dream.

I love how people keep whining about the engine and every CoD game always looks stunning. Face it, a perfect engine only needs minor tweaks to achieve excellence.

I love Call of Duty, but playing MW3 after having previously played Black Ops and MW2, I'm starting to feel a little bit of franchise fatigue. As for next year, as of right now I'm betting they'll release Black Ops 2, or something continuing the Black Ops storyline. After that though, it's really anyone's guess. Call of Duty: Future Warfare? Sci-fi is really the only shooter setting they haven't done yet.

I am really loving Modern Warfare 3 and think it looks quite good with the engine it's using now. I'm guessing that next year's game will likely be Black Ops 2 and it would appear that Modern Warfare has been wrapped up nicely so perhaps they'll go further into the future now.

It'll keep doing what it's doing. Yearly installments until it doesn't sell anymore (see Guitar Hero).

I don't know, but it'll probably be Black Ops 2, probably same engine and all.

After Treyarch makes their game, they will somehow make MW4 and it will probably be something stupid like "Price was actually a bad guy" or "The adventures of Frost".

The future. It's obvious.

It would still be the same game just now with a different coat of paint. Its what they do. Cod4 was the same as the last 12 cods before it yet the new coat of paint sold like hotcakes. They continued the milkage for years to come & even after you would have thought people would be smart enough to not support teh milkage. . . . what happens? MW3 becomes the biggest selling piece of entertainment in history.

You haven't been here very long then this is like the 400th thread on the exact same opinion in the last two months. Look back over the last ten pages here and I bet you'll hit half a dozen of these threads. Its boring because noone cares if you like COD or not, thats blog material. Its not a "fact" that the games are the same or whatever nonsense you're going on about, in fact they are all quite different. MW3 plays a lot differently than Black Ops does both on and offline.

Well since consumers have been buying generally the same game for about 5 years, Id say its not gonna go anywhere and its gonna keep the exact same formula because it seems to be working.

I wouldn't mind seeing a CoD game about the Korean War, which is largely forgotten, or maybe an aerial combat COD game.

If it could be done effectively, I would love to see a COD game set in the American Revolution.

Also, we haven't had the chance to play as Navy SEALS in a COD game. A game about the first Gulf War would be cool, too.

I don't really care to be honest, for a two reasons:

1. Next game is made by Treyarch

2. I only cared about MW for the Soap and Price story, so now that that game has drawn it's conclusion, I'm out once the multiplayer gets boring (probably by the New Year)

well we all know where they WILL go, back to exactly what they've been doing.
I'm hoping they take 2 or 3 years off, make a new engine and return to WW2.

So, with the release of the mega-blockbuster that is MW3, where do you think COD will head next?

It goes to Hell, literally. The next COD will be a 'holy war'. Some how demons are invading Heaven. You and your group of angels will bum rush Hell. You also play someone on earth who is cought in this 'holy war'.

Doubt the 2012 title will be a big improvement . . . Wonder when they will actually innovate? Black Ops was a step forward. MW 3 felt like a few steps back.

I could do without the multiplayer component, unless it had a drastic overhaul, though the co-op stuff for spec ops mode is done pretty well. I would love a COD game with just spec ops mission and survival.

It's has no where but to go down really. I mean the gameplay hasn't drastically changed since CoD4 and it's running on an engine that's over a decade old. There series just need to take a break and refresh. Let it cool a bit. Let the creative spark from Infinity Ward and Treyarch take form once again and brings us something truly special. I mean think about it... what made CoD4 back in 2007 so good? It was new, fresh, and was doing something different from other shooters out there. I know there are a ton of people that love the games (it broke freaking sales records) but I think gamers should look at it from a different perspective and realize that rehashing the same gameplay over and over again, each and every year isn't a good thing for the industry.

well, next year will be blackops 2, then maybe back to WWII era. then maybe MW4, i can see them getting tired of all this and doing a sci fi or a revolutionary war era game. but thats how creative devs are nowadays. i can work for EA. but what is all come down to, is its the same game repeated over and over. people trash on nintendo for using mario and zelda to death, but alteast you dont see new Zelda games every year.

I don't know, but I think I'm going to get MW3. COD is milked, but it's a fun game and I enjoy playing it with friends, and I always have friends online so it's cool with me. I'll continue playing COD but I'll skip a year between each game. That's what most of my friends do anyway.

So, let me get it straight, if he hypothetically answered with an insult we should just shut up because 'he saw fit' to do so?
