It is already happening, why would an HD TV these days come with a composite/component input? You know, the red, yellow, and white cables. How will I play my favorite (and rare) ps2 games?

I understand they are making HD remakes....but this seems to be only with some games.

PS1 and PS2 games look fine on my 42' 1080p plasma tv with the visuals being run through an HDMI cable (I have a B/C PS3).

HDTV's still have component and composite inputs. Hell, my plasma still has a coax input. They will probably keep these old legacy inputs around for a long time, so that people can still use their PS2's/VHS players/video cameras/etc. And if they stopped, you could always buy a converter box.

With the old TV set you've had in storage for years and AV cables you got when buying a PS2.

Not all games will be re-made for HD. I have an eclectic taste in video games, and I don't see any of my favorites being made because they are not so popular. I thought "The Suffering" was one of the best games i've played but it got bad reviews from critics and players.

The PS2 is compatible with Components, but not all PS2 games uspport the signal. But there is no need to worry because I do not think Composite is gonna totally vanish in the near future. Heck, Coaxe Cabbles are still around. The HD TV I bought around summer of 2008 had a coaxe cable port to it. Good thing too because there would be no way for me to play my NES Top Loader without one.

I guess eventually they would start making PS2 games downloadable.

Not all will be downloadable! I have a weird taste in video games. I often like "bad" games. I highly doubt they will be downloadable. Maybe through an emulation software....

just use a crt tv I guess. My grandfather's friend runs a tv repair shop and he's got a hell of a lot of perfectly decent (and often rather new) crt tvs that people have just given him because they don't want them any more, no trouble getting a decent CRT for cheap or free from places like that. But aside from that, if there's enough demand then the console manufacturers should improve BC or maybe release cables that work with newer tvs

I'm thinking of investing 100 bucks in a nice flatscreen SDTV just so I can have it to play my old systems on.

I don't knw. I guess you could get one of those things to hoook it up through the cable.

I'm sure some one will make some sort of adapter.

HD TV does not make SD look good.

wiouds

This.

To me, PS2 games look worse on the HDTV because you can see the old resolution they run at, and thus look pixely. Its harder to notice the bigger pixels on an SDTV because its also natively the same low res.

Anyway, it will take a while for component to become obsolete. It's standard with HDMI on current TV's. Composite is only barely starting to be phased out. my TV has the five color but not the three. Easily solution is to find a five-color cable for the PS2, and make sure to keep the old TV as time goes on so you have something to play it on. :)
