I wasn't even aware the Wii had more than 20 games in it's library.

I'm not sure what part of highly rated would indicate anything other than quality :P The Wii's problem is that people base their perceptions on the mountains of shovelware that developers throw on the console for a quick buck or licensed crap, when in reality it's a haven for unique, ambitious, or niche games.
Thanks to the low development costs of the console, devs can actually take risks on new ideas and gameplay because if it doesnt sell too well, they still pull a profit anyways, where as if they do that on the HD twins and it doesnt pan out, they're screwed.

Honestly you make the best point. The Wii is **** hardware, theres no way around that, I wish more than anything that Nintendo came out with decent hardware this gen... but alas, it has the most games that I like, so I love it :P
