Just out of curiousity of what kind of underrated games people love. Mine is Spec Ops:The Line. I found it in a cheap bin at Wal-Mart never heard about till I seen it. Bought it for $19.98, as a joke, thinking the game was crap.

was I sadly misteaken. Spec Ops: The Line is absolutely incredible. It was like A Macbeth covered up in ba vampire romance novel. I mean Spec was just mind blowing.

I too will have to go with Spec Ops: The Line. Not only one of my favorite games this gen, but one of my favorite games of all time. Other honorable mentions are Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom, and Black Sigil: Blade of the Exiled.

There have been a few. Binary Domain and Vanquish are the ones I think got the least attention that I can think of. Adore them both

Ill agree with Two World's 2...it was a great game just overshadowed by the disaster that the first game was...and Overlord, a very fun game that I absolutely love but never really heard many people talking about

About Spec Ops the Line, I would hardly call it underrated: it received unconditional praise from nearly every game critic on the internet, and with good reason

Not many people grabbed WET when it came out, but I found it interesting, a female lead always intrigues me.

I got it, initially I wasn't too impressed but I went back to play it later and I found it kind of addictive.

A couple of them:

Nier.  A very good open world RPG, with fun combat and fantastic music and characters.  Some of the funnest boss fights I've seen in a long time.  One of the most memorable games of this gen.

Dark Void.  Sci-fi shooter where you had a jetpack which opened up the entire vertical dimension completely.  Huge variety of very creative environments, great variety of gameplay, really good music, and a pretty good story too.

I adored Tenchu Z. I think people expected to be able to fight toe-to-toe with the enemies like a hack and slash, but that's not the point of the game. If you methodically kill everyone on the map with a silent stealth kill, that game is amazing fun for stealth fans. The only problem I had with it was the number of times they recycled the same maps.

i consider everyday shooter to be among the best games this generation. so many games throw in a bunch of frivolous mechanics for that sake of fun that don't really add anything to the experience. everyday shooter is still a fun game, but it includes exactly what it needs and nothing else that doesn't add to the themes of the levels.

i guess i hold more esteem for nelson tethers: puzzle agent than most people do too. i've played point & click adventure games that are considered to be among the best games of all time and what holds them back are the puzzles. they feel like they don't need to be there. it's like i'm supposed to be saving the day but instead i'm making fishing rods out of curtain wires and rubber duckies. puzzle agent is different because the puzzles have to be there. they're something between a dark urge and a bad itch.

Bionic Commando.

Still one of my very favorite games of this generation and despite some rough edges the full game, especially in later levels, is fantastic, unique and a perfect 3D approximation of the franchise from which it was spawned.

Two Worlds 2 was a great game, even if it is flimsy in ways and very un-polished. That all adds to the appeal of that game.

Also, Majin and The Forsaken Kingdom was a surprising game that I enjoyed.

Sneak King is a game that surprisingly I've had a lot of fun with, and can be quite challenging.

I can't believe I forgot Deadly Premonition! It's a 'B movie' of the video game world, and it's great.

Really looking forward to the PS3 release for that game. Like some who've mentioned above, Nier is a nice hidden gem. Also Last Rebellion I found pretty awesome. Got horrid reviews, but I found it refreshing and another great jrpg to add to the ps3 collection.

in what world is this underrated?

Underrated can mean under sold or under played. High ratings don't mean sales unfortuantly, otherwise Rayman Origins would of sold 3 million+ instead of barely 1 million.

MP3 gets ripped on a lot and people still think MP1 is still the best MP game, personally I think MP3 > MP2 > MP1.

Sonic 06. No joke. The game is very fun and gets an unjustified amount of hate. If you liked Sonic Adventure, you'll like Sonic 06.

Brutal Legend. Im one of the few people that loved the Rts/Action gameplay with open world roaming in the single player. Not to mention the excellent humor and charectars in the game. It also helps im a metalhead and the game is practically one giant tribute to metal.

Two games made for online multiplayer -

Chromehounds

Shadowrun

Chromehounds was building a giant mech like a work of lego and then the combat was actually strategical and required teamwork. Shadowrun was like a fantasy version of counterstrike with magic such as teleporting and turning into smoke, and technology like seeing through walls and supercharged reflexes. It's an eternal shame neither of these games became really popular with a big online following.

Wet. I wouldn't say it was underrated, but, for what it was, I had a blast playing it.
