What happened to Anthem? The blockbuster game that failed to find a community

It's developed by one of the gaming industry's most revered studios, BioWare, and published by one of its biggest companies, Electronic Arts.

A co-operative sci-fi shooter, early footage showed off fluid gameplay and a world that is bold and bright, stuffed with exciting environments and plenty of enemy encounters.

'The world was so empty'

So how did a studio as beloved as BioWare, the same team behind fan-favourite franchises like Mass Effect and Dragon Age, go so wrong?

"It's sad," says Inel Tomlinson, Twitch streamer and reviewer on BBC Sound's Press X to Continue podcast.

"You can tell developers put a lot of hard work into it - whether or not the direction was correct or not, you can tell there was a lot of hard work.

"Because the world is lush - and the graphics beautiful - it just wasn't cohesive enough for people to really enjoy it."

It's not really.

Before Anthem; they last released Mass Effect: Andromeda which most see as a giant meme. It is infamous for how bad it is across the board. Even the developer/ publisher blamed actual good games existing_

Dragon Age: Inquisition, while winning awards on being a shiny romance sim, is an awful RPG and extremely shallow. Have not read a good defence to this game as an RPG, most tend to gloss over its mechanics, level design, and horrible pacing, to mention how good it 'looks'.

And the game before that is Mass Effect 3, a game fans seem to dislike. Have no real objection of this game as have not played a Mass Effect game, apparently made all choices pointless or something. Based on Dragon Age can only assume how it plays.

The only game that seems somewhat redeemable in this list is Dragon Age: Inquisition. However I think it caters to a very niche crowd that just wants to role play %¥#$ing an elf chick.

So overall Bioware have 'at least' over a decade weak portfolio.

Calling Bioware 'one of the most revered studios in gaming' is an insult to actual amazing developers!

Support good games! Not bloated hype that spew expensive marketing campaigns to trick the weak minded.
