I can't really comment on this one. Not huge on listening to soundtracks but will post anyway. :)

Tony hawks pro skater 2 and Tony hawks underground. Probably the best soundtracks I've ever heard in a game.

Halo 2

World of Warcraft

(these two are the only videogame soundtracks I’ve ever purchased - flawless)

Project Gotham 2

(a lot of love and care went into these mostly indi choices)

Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg

I really appreciate the soundtracks to just about any Tom Clancy branded videogame. The sense of urgency and patriotism they convey really sets the mood - which is what a soundtrack is supposed to do.

While not an official soundtrack to a game, I downloaded this on my OG Xbox for Burnout 3 and it fit perfectly.

Though I think a similar thread was made late into 2018 on GD I do like the interest in gaming music. Far too many to name honestly, I love a good gaming sound track. Really gets my blood pumping for good games. Will try to name and share a few-

Nier Automata, Katamari Damashii, Shadow of the Beast, CastleVania games, Unreal, Bare Knuckle, Sonic Mania, Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2, Morrowind and Oblivion

Homeworld, at least for original soundtracks.

The GTA series since GTA 3 tend to have a good collection of licensed songs, and their talk channels are absolutely hilarious.

Yeah, that soundtrack is incredible... suits the game perfectly.

And more recently, RDR 2's soundtrack was pretty special.

I only count original game music and don't care about licensed stuff, so my 3 off the top of my head would be:

- Deus Ex (all games)

- Mass Effect (orignal trilogy, as I'm yet to play the 4th)

- the original Unreal Tournament

World of Warcraft has had fantastic soundtracks since vanilla. I've also enjoyed Dark Souls too. Kingdom Hearts and FF ones I routinely listen to.

@speeny: Yup. Better than 11-15. They were not so memorable.

I'd go with SFII, it has so many memorable themes.

Every piece of music became associated with a specific character, and they are all still used 25+ years on.

Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill Homecoming and Silent Hill The Room.

Sould Reaver has a nice OST too.

And for party days Hotline Miami 1 and 2.

The last of Us has one of the best soundtracks in games imo. Although I would say there's a few of the tracks in the ost that don't work well outside of the context of the game, but that is likely to happen in most games.

I love the soundtrack for Skyrim, both for the reason that it is beautiful and fits well with the tone of the game, and because I’ve heard the tracks over and over and over and over and they still don’t get stuck in my head and drive me crazy. They’re wonderfully non-obtrusive.

I have been playing this game for many years. But recently due to error codes in my laptop, the soundtrack is not playing whenever I am playing the game. Even the game is not running swiftly like before. If I fix Error Code 0X80071A90 with https://errorcode0x.com/error-code-0x80071a90/ that has actually occurred will it solve these problems?

Wonderboy 3: The Dragons Trap (ps4/Xone/Switch remaster). It has the original 8-bit soundtrack which itself is fantastic, and an updated one which is also great. Plus you can switch them on the fly with the push of a button which is great.
