I’ve always been intrigued by the Zelda series because there seems to be branching story archs. Have no idea what’s going on tho, but cool nonetheless. How about you, GS? What games have great lore in your opinion?

Bloodborne is an obvious one.
Final Fantasy games set in Ivalice (FF12, FFT, Vagrant Story) lore is quite interesting.
Suikoden series have a very well lore about overpowered magic tattoos.
I also really like Witcher series lore about the whole conjunction events and then the elven genocide and those wars.
None that I can think of, at least none that are original enough to praise on its own merits.
Elder Scrolls lore, for example, just seems like a bunch of cheap high fantasy pumped into the games at a nauseatingly high volume.
I mean…maybe Disco Elysium? I even hesitate to use that game because it is a one-off and not established over multiple games. It has a great story as far as games are concerned, but that doesn’t necessarily mean “great lore.”
Knights of the Old Republic.
They did so much to expand the Old Republic (sadly, now non-canon...mostly) lore and expose so many people to it. Really sad we aren't getting more material from Disney in that era.
Elder Scrolls.
Seriously. There's so many books to read in those games, it's almost overwhelming. Even Elder Scrolls Online (hell, especially ESO).
Plus they gave us the Lusty Argonian Maid
Bioware games:
Between Mass Effect more or less creating a galaxy that, if it had as much content, would rival other major sci-fi franchises, and their other titles like Jade Empire and Dragon Age, they're really good and building lore-heavy worlds and games.
Yeah they can be formulaic and trope-y, but they put a lot of effort into the writing for the most part and fleshing out their lore.

>There are some clues to connect the dot which I find rarely when it comes to lore making. I don't want to spoil it but if you pay attention to clues and stuff that's the best thing, your decision by the way can affect your storyline.
-World of Warcraft (Classic / Retail)
>24 years
-The Witcher 1-2-3
> Super immersive, it's based on books.
