What game can you play for hours on end?

Used to be WoW (ha not any more!) I can play left4dead for hours, borderlands online with friends too.

perfect dark n64/goldeneye/top gear /zombies ate my neighbors and mariokart comes to mind

Most of the RPGs I play. More prominently: Elder Scrolls Series, Fallout Series, Pokemon, Dragon Quest Series, Dragon Age Origins, Diablo II, Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.

Also some strategy games such as Civilization Revolution.

I guess I could really play any enjoyable game for hours on end given the right situation.

Flight Simulator, Silent Hunter 3 & 4, and RailWorks to name a few.

Pong.

Lego Battles, Age of Empires: Age of Kings (DS), Stronghold Crusader; the list goes on.

Pokemon.

Hmm...

I find myself frequently coming back to fighters. From Super Street Fighter IV to Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I also find that I can never really get tired of platformers. I pop in Super Mario Galaxy 2 at times just to play a few levels, or Donkey Kong Country Returns. Also, I really should own New Super Mario Bros. DS... at least Super Mario 3D will be out shortly :P.

I don't play most of these games anymore, but:

Those are the games that I could, & would, play all day. I still play a lot of FIFA 11. When I was playing WoW I would play nothing but WoW. There are plenty of games I'll play for hours when I get the chance though.

Grand Theft Auto is a pretty good for spending hours on. All of the crazy, random stuff you can do never get's old.

Lol COD games are too short so u can end them in 5 hours. Maybe 6 if u wanna pick that stuff which u can collect.

Any Halo game, or really good multiplayer fps game. Though last night I played Super Stardust HD in 3D till what felt like my eyes were bleeding.

For me I can play turned based strategy games longer than any others. Two of my favorite games that I still play regularly for hours on end are Brigandine and Final Fantasy Tactics. And those are both for the playstation 1.

League of Legends, any valve multiplayer game.

Final Fantasy IX, any Puzzle League title, any Donkey Kong Country title

WoW before I quit and CoD 4 before the hackers took over. Now Halo Reach (really any Halo tbh), GTA 4, RDR, BFBC 2 (BF3 when it comes out), KZ3, and lately, Infamous and Uncharted 2.

I can play tons of games for hours on end, but I'd say the main titles would be Dragon Age: Origins and probably Battle for Middle Earth 2. I can play those all day and still want to keep playing.

San Andreas, and it's online modification Multi Theft Auto. Been playing GTA/MTA for 7/5 years and I'm still not bored of it..

Pokemon and the Tales series have always got me playing them 50000 times and just wandering around doing random things

Also Resident Evil 5; Everytime I play that game I end up wanting to play through the story, on either the main game or it's DLC. I also have this stupid OCD in Resident Evil 5 where I want to be as rich as possible and have as much ammunition and herbs I could possibly have; until half the time I do nothing but just feel good about myself and the other half I get all generous to some randomer online and spam him with First Aid Sprays and 999 Handgun ammo. Then I just rinse and repeat, I dunno why I do it since I've completed the game like.. 101%

TimeSplitters 2 & Future Perfect, that game stole my life back in the day, the entire series became my favourite FPS series of all time. Used to just spend hours on end by myself with bots (bawww) or with my brother doing silly weapon setups like Brick only or Unarmed + Custom slot 6 would be a Minigun :P and just so much more. In Future Perfect I--to this day still try and beat my mission records and make new maps.

The Mario Kart and Need for Speed series have always been two racing game franchises that I'm massively addicted to and also a big fan of, I'll never turn down a offer to play 'em, apart from the Shift series, lawl.

And how can I forget Metroid..it's a shame the games aren't reaaaallly long, but I've probably played through the majority of Metroid games plenty of times each. In fact I just 100% completed Metroid Prime a couple of days ago for the 4th time

I don't like playing on games for ages because I feel it ruins it, but L4D I can go on for ages, online anyway, because every game is different depending on who you play with.
