What about new consoles?

I think it's been like 4 years since a new console (PSP Go doesn't count). Does anyone think that there should be new consoles or do you think that the current add ons to old consoles (EX: PS3 move)?

New consoles are a long way off. Playstation 4 and Xbox 3 and Nintendo 6. Are not coming anytime soon. If I was Nintendo I'd start working on the next console now. But Nintendo having sold about 73 million wii consoles which is way better than the 24 million gamecubes sold last gen. Will rest on their laurels until it is actually time for Nintendo #6. They should start work on their 8th gen console now.

The only thing that you can say is that Sony's next Console will be called Playstation 4.

i think the Wii is terrible and needs to be re-done/re-invented/replaced. the rest is fine I have no problem with them

Except switch Wii with PS360.

I don't see any new consoles arriving for at least another few years. Sony and Microsoft put tons of money into development of they're respective motion devices, so I don't see them suddenly abandoning them without at least earning a strong profit from them first. Besides, this generation still feels like its got plenty more life in it. I'd think that it there would be some sort of signs if this generation were on its way out.

I'm sure they're working on they're next systems -- that's always one of the first things on the drawing board after releasing a new system -- but they're likely still in the conceptual stages.

I actually think it's possible that there won't be any new consoles at all for atleast 5 years cause add ons seem to be replacementfor consoles.

I don't really see much need for a new console - it's not like we're going from standard def to hi def, or DVD to Blu ray, or making any of those major changes. I'd be perfectly happy with an improved version of current consoles - more processing power that takes full advantage of state of the art technology and that sort of thing. And a price only about $100 more than what we've got now.

I'm happy with the current consoles, although I would like to see an HD Wii. Other than that, I really don't know how you can take gaming to the next level right now.

I feel the same way about my 360-- I've been playing the 360 for less than a year and I hope it doesn't go out any time soon. I think I've heard, though, that the current generation will go on for a few more years.
