Hello people!

There is a question I would like to ask to gaming community. My team is currently works on the tower defense game Moderator Edit - Game Reference Removed, which tells a funny fantastic story about the conflict between Viking clan and the tribes of human-like bipedal cows. The Vikings in our game are looking the following way:

But - recently one man told me that the Vikings actually never wore horned helmets, so, this depiction of them is historically incorrect. Such a shame - but I really didn't knew it before. So, I wonder, what we have to do now - change the way of look for Vikings in the game, or leave them like they are now - finally, most of the people still connect them with horned helmets.

What do you think about this matter? What should we do?

From what I see and read, the game doesn't try to portray a real time in our history unlike game like Assassin's Creed so with that in mind go for it

Even other medium channels that portray vikings like movies and comics uses horned helmet to portray them so I think it's fine. Also because the general public believes or accepts the idea that Vikings wear horned helmets.

Thanks! I would like also to show some more characters from this game.

The Archer

Mage

The Freezer

And, finally, one of our Battle Cows

Do you like the visual style of these characters?

This is again a ad hidden as topic title. Be honest: You don't care, you just want to advertise your game like all before you.

@ArchoNils2: the fact that we want to let the world know about our game doesn't mean that we don't care about quality of content) This is a honest discussion, even the links to our pages aren't included.

Horned helmets are pretty stupid from a warriors point of view. If someone whacks one of the horns, the helmet goes out of whack and you wont be able to see. Also, they make it very easy for someone to rip the helm outta your head.

Stabbing spike at the front is much more practical for head butting purposes.

As for your game, since you are going for cuteness, it does not matter that much. Mind you, horns in helms do not mark your warriors as vikings.

As far as I know, horns were common in far east and in Great Britain, although in both cases they were mostly used in decorative gear (worn for formal occasions), and not in real war armour.

I like animals in games like this.

There was a strategy game called SWINE that was half decent some years back.

I wouldn't worry about the horns. Are the humans and cows enemies? Maybe it could be a source of conflict like "Hey human, give me my horns back!"

Well, the story in this game is actually about something like this) I dare that this link will not be considered as spam. The story is here: http://cowsvsvikings.com/cows-and-vikings/

@ArchoNils2: Seeking for help to improve ones work is not counted as advertising for me. Since the game is still in development and the Devs even ask in Reddit for suggestions which for me is a good thing for a dev to do before publishing a game.

@weebdragon: We actually began to care about this exact Viking matter after one fellow developer who is Norwegian and know much more about Viking culture than we, told that our Vikings don't fit the real Viking culture as it was in history.
