Mush, much better list!In no specific order:
bats94
- Castlevania 3 (NES)
- Super Castlevania 4 (SNES)
- Symphony of the Night (PS)
- Rondo of Blood (PC-Engine)
- Circle of The Moon (GBA)
LoS is actually pretty good, but in my opinion Castlevania games should remain two dimensional side scrollers rather than three dimensional (reminded me of God of War a bit too much). What's your top 5 Castlevania games?

Lol,just because you like the NES/SNES ones more doesn't mean i have to,too!
They need to stay 2D. Any 3D version they have tried failed miserably for the most part.Dracula68
Do you know what the words "personal preference" mean?
No, can you elaborate for me please?Dracula68
Nothing to elaborate on.
I just prefer the Castlevanias i mentioned.
5. Chronicles
4. Dracula X Chronicles
3. Super Castlevania IV
2. Order of Ecclesia
1. Symphony of the Night
Also pretty fond of Lords of Shadow, but even though I like it so much it's still pretty hard to put it in a best Castlevanias list :P
I'll just talk about the ones I've played through and beaten...
Aria of Sorrow- great graphics, gameplay, story, music... One of my all time favorite handheld games.
2. Dawn of Sorrow- See above... I think the story was a little less strong this time around but still a superb action/ platformer.
3. Order of Ecclesia- I liked the challenge it provided and the more gothic art styIe. Plus the variety in the levels was really cool.
4. Portrait of Ruin- A great game, just my least favorite. Music and story weren't quite as stellar this time around, but the level variety and plenty of bosses made up for it.
1. Super Castlevania IV
2. Castlevania: Rondo of Blood
3. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
4. Castlevania III
5. Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth
Need to play more of the Metroidvanias.
1. Castlevania Circle of the Moon
2. Super Castlevania IV
3. Castlevania Symphony of the Night
4. Castlevania Order of Ecclesia
5. uhhh.. The Original Castlevania I guess. I never finished it though.
My favorites in order would be:
1. Rondo of Blood (Akumaj? Dracula X: Chi no Rondo)
2. Aria of Sorrow
3. Cirlcle of the Moon
4. Symphony of The Night
5. Harmony of Dissonance
1. Order of Ecclesia
2. Symphony of the Night
3. Portrait of Ruin
4. Aria of Sorrow
5. Curse of Darkness
Was hard to make a top 5 seeing they're pretty much all good except for a few "bad apples".
Gah! TC! You forgot Symphony of the Night and Super Castlevania IV! Quick! Fix it! :P
Mine are:
1: Symphony of the Night
2: Super Castlevania IV
3: Symphony of the Night
4: Super Castlevania IV
5: Symphony of the Super Castlevania Night IV
Well
Out of the NES games I prefer the original because it's straightforward, CV4 is obviously one of the best too.
SotN is a solid metroidvania, I wasn't amazed by it, probably because I played it only recently for the first time.
It's tough, but these three are definitely my favorites, in no particular order:
Castlevania
S Castlevania 4
Order of Ecclesia
I love many more, but I can't decide which one to pick from here on.
Oh, I have played some of the 3D games, do not like at all, I actually skipped out on LoS based on the demo. I'm fine with the combat system, because there is no standard in the 3D games yet, however I'm not crazy about it. What put me completely off was the presentation, it's very important to me when it comes to CV; the music, graphics and voice acting while well made, they are not CV, it feels like a fantasy game in the veins of LotR. I prefer the goth style or w/e you call it.
In no particular order: 1. Castlevania (NES) 2. Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (NES) 3. Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (NES) 4. Super Castlevania IV (SNES) 5. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1)Koi-Neon-XBe careful and have your flame retardant suit on for when the TC inevitably comes back to slam your opinion for taking this old school:roll:
Lord Of Shadows Symphony Of The Night Castlevania IV Castlevania Portrait Of RuinGodModeEnabledWow, GME. I'm curious on why you rated Lords of Shadow above Symphony of the Night. I have played both but Lords of Shadow felt too much like a God of War clone to me. I did thoroughly enjoy it and found the game as a whole to be well produced. I personally find SOTN to edge out Lords of Shadow just because it was a bit ahead of its time when it was released. Of course, to each their own I'm curious is all, man.

Very funny.
First, you lock my other thread just cause i stated my opinion, now you think you're a psychic?
W.e.
But yeah that's weird, have you like only played the old school ones?
But yeah that's weird, have you like only played the old school ones?GreekGameManiacWho said we only played the older one's? It means we like the older one's much better. Again, just because you throw 3D on a game does not make it great. Castlevania is the perfect example. Yes, this is my opinion but I am gonna go out on a limb and say the majority of gamers would agree with me---keep Castlevania 2D.

Of course, to each their own I'm curious is all, man. To me LoS is the same level of evolution for the series as SOTN was. We finally have a non garbage 3D Castlevania game that is very good. Yeah the game borrows quite liberally from other titles, but it does such a good job. The atmosphere, artstyle, graphics in the game were so high that I found it really immersive. The game was pretty tough too... which is a nice change of pace against the grain of all the current handholding games. Everything was solid and clicked together well. My major gripe was that they need to keep Krazy Kojima the fvck away from it though because his taint is splattered all over the sorry excuse of a story they try to go for. But its Castlevania, it doesn't really need one anyway. I am pretty pumped to see the next game in the series. Hopefully it has a little bit more of its own identity and no sign of super overated hack "writers"[QUOTE="GodModeEnabled"]Lord Of Shadows Symphony Of The Night Castlevania IV Castlevania Portrait Of Ruinjuradai
Personally two of the better 3D castlevania are Curse of Darkness and one of my guilty pleasure, Castlevania 64.
Despite all the flaws in CV64 it seem to have managed to retain the feel of old castlevania better than the other 3D games.
The Legacy of Darkness game also had a pretty nice remix of Sinking Old Sanctuary from Bloodlines on Genesis.

Needs to stay away from making fighters/brawlers too. Castlevania Judgment was mediocre, to say the least.

Calling Judgment mediocre is being very kind.

I say mediocre because I had some drunk fun with it at a friend's house once. :P It's a shame because a Castlevania fighter/brawler could actually work; Judgment being on the Wii isn't even the reason why it's bad. It just is.Who said we only played the older one's? It means we like the older one's much better. Again, just because you throw 3D on a game does not make it great. I've played Castlevania games on the PS2 (Lament of Innocence), GBA (Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, and Aria of Sorrow), and PS3 (Lords of Shadow) and these are all very decent entries to the series, but for me the entries on the NES, SNES, and PS1 are the best ones. I agree with Dracula68 100%: keep Castlevania 2D![QUOTE="GreekGameManiac"]But yeah that's weird, have you like only played the old school ones?Dracula68

Judgment was so bad, but at least it was a different take on the series than anything before or after it.
