...this is from April 2008, so newer games like MGS 4, GTA 4,and Fallout 3 aren't here...I agree with most of these choices, not all. The list is in no particular order as well.

Surprised Mafia is not there but some of the games they listed seem out of place. None of the God of War games had an excellent story and Astro Boy? I need check into that cause I don't recal it being known for story at all.

What? San Andreas? It`s story was funny and pretty insane, yeah, but it doesn`t deserve to be acknowledged as one of the best video game stories ever.

Any list that throws in Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers gets my approval. :P

Oh, and Torment, Fandango and TLJ and the others, but they should automatically be on any 'best story' lists, so meh.

The list predates games with great stories....Lost Odyssey (the only other jRPG which story can be considered great, especially with its dreams), Velvet Assassin and Brothers In Arms: Hells Highway (two excellent WWII stories)..........and look out for Heavy Rain and Alan Wake (kinda too similar to SH2 though).

I'm very surprised to see that San Andreas is in there.

And yes, Half-Life 2 and Deus Ex should both be there, Deus Ex especially.

I don't know why San Andreas is there, but it's an OK list. I agree that Majora's Mask is missing.

I'm a fan of the MG series, but have found the overall trajectory of the story to be insanely overcomplicated and muddled with philosophical mumbo-jumbo. Is it just me, or does there seem to be some cultural lag in terms of Japanese games. I've always found that "Western" games typically had more compelling stories. 16-bit-brain

Glad Star Wars: KOTOR and Bioshock got on the list, surprised Mass Effect isn't on it and I'll give this a stretch and say I think Morrowind should have made the list. This lists will never really be 100% accurate though because "the top game stories" really comes down to everyone's opinion.

San Andreas easily had the worst story of the GTA series. I'd say that none of the PS2 GTA games deserve to be on such a list. GTAIV definitely has one of the greatest video game stories ever however.

I personally think that The World Ends with You had one of the best plots that I've seen in a game. Lots of twists and great writing.

Well, even if GTAIV wasn't released when the list was made, I still don't see how San Andreas made it on there. If they had to put a PS2 GTA game on there, Vice City would be a better choice. Vice City's storyline was far more cohesive than that in San Andreas. Not to mention it had better characters.

Deus Ex & Max Payne def one of the top 15.

This jsut seems difficult. I've always thaught that only RPGs have good storys, and even then, I can only name about 2 of them because I dont play that many.
