Somebody with FF experience - Tell me what the ones youve played are like

seriously? You have never read any 50 page FF compairison threads before? if its boring quit. there are far to many good games to waste time on the ones you dont like just because other people say it is good.

My fav FF games are FFVI, FFVII, FFVIII, and FFX. I also like FFT as well. I've also played FFIX and was not that impressed but those 4 that I mentioned are my fav and in my opinion are the best of what the FF universe has to offer.

FFVI - Has about 20 different characters each with their own unique story and probably the best story of any ff out of the bunch.

FFVII - Cool characters and some what interesting story but you mainly just chase the bad guy around.

FFVIII - Great music, cool characters and a lot of cool places to explore also arguably has the best final dungeon.

FFX - long game not as cool characters and no world map. Its still a good game and is the last good ff game that I liked although its not as good as the ps1 or snes ff games.

Final Fantasy I (NES/PSOne/GBA/PSP)--A complete faximille of the Dungeons & Dragons pen-and-paper RPG. You get to choose a party of four no-name characters from a pool of six character classes. The Magic system in the NES and PSOne versions of the game use the same method as D&D, meaning that spells come in the form of spell charges, not the usual MP cost from your character's MP pool.

Final Fantasy II (Famicom/PSOne/GBA/PSP)--The first title in the series to use character development in the storyline. The game had a unique (and abusable) stat growth and weapon mastery system that increased your stats, depending on which actions you take in battle. For example, the more you use physical attacks, the more likely your Strength will go up a point.

Final Fantasy III (Famicom/DS)--The first title in the series to implement the Job system. It uses the MP system from FFI, but it gives you more spell charges than the first game ever had. It was also the debute of the Summoner Job class, which would affect the series's history.

Final Fantasy IV (SNES/PSOne/GBA/DS)--The first Final Fantasy title to use the ATB, which allowed the monsters to attack you in consecutive turns if you don't make your move first. This installment was the only one to have an active party of five characters at a time.

Final Fantasy V (Super Famicom/PSOne/GBA)--This game had the Job system of FFIII, but allowed more veratility amoungst the characters, as the abilities and skills you learn from one job can be use in another job class. For example, you could have a Monk, normally brute-force first, cast summoning spells, completely throwing the enemies off guard.

Final Fantasy VI (SNES/PSOne/GBA)--Arguably the best title in ther series. Spells could be learned by equiping Magicite. Also, the Magicite would give you a stat increase at level-up depending on what Magicite you had equipped at level-up.

Personally I liked playing in midgar, but everyone has different tastes.

I think you should play till at least rocket town before you give up on the game.

I - hated it.

II - Decent, wack level system though. At least it tried something interesting.

III - Own it on DS. Got sick of a lack of save points.

IV - Played about halfway through, couldn't stay into it. It was good though.

V - My favorite of 2D FF.

VI - Lots of people consider it the best FF. I personally could not stay interested.

VII - Give it more time. The start is slow, I know. I think the story is one of it's best qualities.

VIII - My favorite FF. Technically though, a pretty flawed game.

IX - Pariah of the PS FFs, and not a bad game at all.

X - Close behind VIII on my favorites. They actually changed the game some...story was smart and powerful as well. Loved it.

XII - Great game, but oh so time consuming.

Don't quit, ff7 get's A LOT better... unfortunately, I think it has one of the worst begginnings in the franchise which often scares away people who just got their hands on it.Hungry_bunny

Really, I thought it had a fantastic intro. Once you get to the world map things kind of slow down for a bit but for the most part the game keeps a good pace.

Anywho, IV is my favorite.

From the ones that I have played:

Final Fantasy III- It was interesting at first, but got oh-so difficult later on. That plus the lack of save points (and me losing my DS charger) killed it for me.

Final Fantasy VII- It does get better, just give it some time. One of my favorite moments is when you enter Nibelheim (though my actual favorite part of the game was the beginning in Midgar), mainly because that is where you recruit Vincent, then Cid, and your party gets completed.

Final Fantasy X- A great game, can be somewhat difficult at times though. Don't let it bother you! The only thing that I didn't like about the game was that we got to see so little of Zanarkand in it's former state. It's such a beautiful city, and I love the whole "ultra-futuristic utopia" thing that it has going on.

Final Fantasy XII- Fantastic game, possibly my favorite in the series. It has great gameplay, great graphics, and a pretty decent story. Though the first few hours tend to border on mind-numbingly boring.

Final Fantasy X- A great game, can be somewhat difficult at times though. Don't let it bother you! Could not agree more, hands down the best FF IMO. I just love everything about it, fighting Seymour gets a bit repetitive though after a while.

lol i wouldnt say it was difficult tho

you friggin take turns with the enemy

haste+quick hit combo made the entire game too easy

and the fact that you can see when the enemy is going to attack - call out a summon to take the blow and keep going

I - The Basic Final Fantasy Game. Fast Moving, Good Feeling Battles.

II - The Battle System Is A Little Stiff, But You Get Used To It. Good Overall Game.

III - Probably One Of The Best Oldie's. Class System, Lots Of Towns And Dungeons, More In Depth Story.

IV - The Absolute BEST Old FF Game. Has A Well Thought Story And Loveable Characters. Battle System Is Amazing.

V - Faster Paced Battles, Better Monsters, Compared To The Previous Game, This One Isn't So Good.

VI - A Repeat Of Before But With Better Stories And More Added To The Battle Sequences.

VII - The Pinnacle Of Final Fantasy. The Best FF Game There Is. Incredible Story, Loveable Characters, Tons of Side-Quests.

VIII - Trying A Bit Too Hard To Repeat The Success Of The Last. Mostly About Love. Either You Loved It, Or Hated It.

IX - The 'Under-Rated' FF Game. Had The Potential To Possibly Be Ranked Up With FFVII. Criticized For 'Kiddy' Graphics.

X - The Most Well-Known FF Game Now A Days. Features Many New Upgrades To The Old Games. Ex: Sphere Grid, Blitzball.

XII - A Risky Move By Square Enix. Redid The Battle System, But Seemed To Pull It Off Nicely. Tops It Off With A Good Story.
